Power Amps

Hello again gents I am in need of some expert advise please.
I currently own a Arcam A28 integrated amp and I want to bi-amp my speakers,now the problem is that I cannot find a Arcam power amp for love nor money(reasonable money).Would any other power amp be suitable for the task? I understand that I will have to gain match it with my A28 so please can all you clever chaps help me in my quest?

From my own experience there isn't a huge chasm of difference between gain levels of power amp inputs, unless a passive pre is involved.

I had a set of oddball pre-amp and power amps which worked fine together and it would not be beyond the realms of possibility either to use attenuators to curb a higher gain power amp if needs be.

I have an Arcam P75 lying around. No idea if its the right gain for you though.

Hello Butuz,as far as I understand all arcam amps are the same gain.Would be interested in your p75,could you please tell me what colour it is and how much you would like for it.Cheers Paul

I used to bi-amp with an A85 and P85, sounded great! I wish I had kept those amps.

Ah I just saw photos of your nice all black system. My P75 is silver :(

As long as you pick just about any power amp that is more sensitive you can pretty easily equalise them. All you'd need is a series resistor feeding the new amp on each channel.

Combine that with the inevitable resistor to ground & you have a potential divider which if done correctly will give you the same gain. At that point if you adjust the volume both will be in step & stay there ;)

Thanks for the replies gents,I would ideally like to get a Arcam amp if poss system synergy and all that.I think I will just have to be patient and see what comes up.Cheers Paul
