Wanted High end system on the Cheap !!

I am currently looking to buy some secondhand high end equipment on the cheap ;)

3d Soundstaging,detail,deep bass are my priorities,equipment and prices i have considered are the following:

Chord 2600 integrated - £1500

Moon audio amp i5 3rs - £1000

Moon audio cd payer 5.3 rs £700

Raysonic CD128 CD Player £600-700

Wilson Benesch Discoverys £2500

Neat MFC speakers + stands £1500-2000

Does anyone have these items for sale or similar ;)

That lot together will be so deeeeeetailed the music will disappear up the (inflamable?) WB speaker cones!!!!!!!

You'd get a far better sound with new Rega Saturn CD player, a Croft integrated amp (£800 line only version) and some proper speakers such as used Spendor S6e's, Rega RS5's or 7's and connected with decent, sensible stranded copper interconnects and speaker cables, which won't set you back hundreds of pounds.

Of course, the above stuff won't look much cop and since most Top End is bought by the eyes for status and high expectations of performance not often realised in actuality.

Your choice guv'nor, but check out the items I recommended and wear blindfolds if the appearance doesn't look posh enough :lol:

The Chord CPM2600 is a great amp to partner with the likes of some Dali's or maybe even some Vintage Celestions?... maybe?

Also the Raysonic is a superb player... if you can find one! Roll the valves to some Mullards, whack some XLR's from it to the amp and job done..

They are very reliable, built very well indeed. Parts are easy to obtain too.

The valves are only signal valves (not output) so they will last for years and years. They are ECC88's but if you can get a hold of some E88CC's you will not be dissopointed.

You can get Mullards or cheaper new equivilants from CVC, Langrex, Watford Valve etc. They start from around £7 each for say some JJ's.

The raysonics come with Electro Harmonix that are very good indeed but the cream to get are Mullards. The E88CC's are around £45 - £50 each but worth it.

Sorted matey... Well done!

I think you will love it. Great thing about the Raysonic is that it takes to valve rolling really well so give it a few months of listenting to and then experiment.

BTW the inner 2 valves are for the RCA output and the outer two are for the XLR output.

They don't - simples :lol: Not compared to the best of the BBC legacy, or Tannoy's finest - IMO. You have to go through stages though and the BBC legacy speakers usually come along at the end of the audiophool journey :)

In what way are the Regas (or indeed even the Spendors) you mentioned "BBC legacy"?
