Has decided me to do another one this summer.
Incentive, well we need a bit of nosh and boose, I will provide the nosh you provide the booze. Curry? BBQ? I suppose it depends on the weather. I have some very interesting Chinese tea from Taiwan that has a fungus on it that acts a bit like speed  opens your ears :eyebrows:
What to bake-off, well amps would be a bit daft and could be seen as commercial, though obviously the system contains them
Smallish speakers may be a good one as many people seem to think the design of the NVA cubes is a bit daft. So bring along your favourites.
We have done TTs twice so perhaps not them.
We did computer audio last year, and seeing as that is the going thing perhaps we should do that again.
DACs would be another alternative.
Apart from that I am open to suggestions. Room for 5 people, anything over that gets too complicated.
Who is up for it. On a Sunday during July 12noon to whenever.
You not to far away from me Richard
I could eaisly bring the copper dac/pre along. As long as I have a month notice I can be flexiable
I'd have liked to come, but it's way too short notice for me, especially at this time of the year (holiday season).
Richard, I'm not sure how much success you'll have for that reason. For these things to be done properly, it's best to give people at least 2-3 months notice. Wouldn't it be better to do something in the autumn, once all the holidays are over? :)

I am too busy then, the summer is the lull time for me.
How about Sunday 31st July or 7th August. I always do Summer bake-offs.
Lets make it a DAC one then.
Or playing devils advocate it could be a Phono stage one to set this SUT v Active thing to rest :ner:
Lol - I'll see what 'the boss' has got planned :)

You're a bad man Mr D. :eyebrows:
That tea sounds promising;)
The should not have a issue of either date but would need confirmation within the next 2 weeks
If it phonostage then perhaps no point in me going

The Phono stage thing was a Marco tease :eyebrows:
We will fix it to DACs.

Good luck with this, I'm sure there will be enough people interested to make it work, and it's always good to get together face to face and have a natter!

Will their be any Grappa on tap - or must one bring one's own?
Not sure that Grappa is Richard's thing... But I believe that the Limoncello will be good! ;)

Hmm. I see. I guess half-pint glasses for this should go in the freezer NOW!

OK lets pin it to the 7th August and DACS will be subject, but computer audio will be part of it as it will be using a computer transport not a CD player
Not much interest so far :( I really think it should be non trade, I had one trade to my last one and he proved to be pain in the arse.
I hate flavour of the months but as it seems the Young is the latest forum hype I hope someone brings one as I haven't heard it.
I can supply a vintage DAC which is a re-psu and modified QED Digit so we can see how much things have progressed in 20 years.
I don't make a DAC currently so I have no horse in the race.

I could also bring my modded Sony DAS-R1, for the very same purpose... ;)

Don't think I can make that weekend or would bring the Young over to run rings around those old Dac's ;)

What incentive will change your mind. Food - drink - pole dancer between the speakers

Ha - bring it on baby! :eyebrows:
Marco.
Sod the hi fi.
The tea sounds better.
Is this still on Richard? I know we've not seen eye to eye on some issues on AoS, but perhaps meeting face to face would be different. I have a Beresford Caiman DAC I could bring along if you've not heard one of Stan's creations before? 7th August is my wife's birthday weekend, but I'm sure she will forgive me if I "Tiffany up her ass" ;)
Would be good to see Marco and John again, too. :)

Only just noticed this.
Heard the previous one to the Caiman when Jerry brought it round, sounded good.
Liaise between the three of you and let me know, all or any of you are welcome. If you prefer to do a individual one just let me know. PM or email to tai-chi@supanet.com would be better.

Will do, thanks.

Will do, thanks.
Jason now says he is coming down for it, bringing some new box he has put together. I think it may be a transport, so DACs would be good.
So who have we got Marco? Alex? who was the other one?
I'm afraid that I *may* be in France then, although it's not a definite yet. I'll know for sure though by next week, and will let you know :)

Well probably best to forget the bake-off then and just make it individual, in which case no arrangement required just phone or email when you have a loose day or tie it up with Alex to come together.
John Cahill is popping in this Saturday afternoon to have a nose at the speakers, and really anyone is welcome if they are a hi-fi enthusiast and want to talk hi-fi and listen to music. Just email, phone or PM to arrange.
No worries, but there's still a decent chance that I could make it. It all depends on us completing doing a few things before we go away. I'll know by the beginning of next week :)

OK interest now at Subjectivist so I will make a list.
Me
Jason
Marco AoS (maybe)
Alex AoS (maybe)
29mile
Deaf Cat
Now full, but subs bench available in case Marco and Alex drop out.
I'm definitely up for it. Trade, yes - pain in the arse, no (well, no one has told me so, yet).
I can bring all sorts of DACs, the Matrix Mini-i that was just reviewed by HiFi Choice, the Audio Gd NFB-2 (http://bit.ly/fxM85w), and the Lite DAC 83 (http://bit.ly/nV6HPh).
If someone who is not trade wants the spot then I will happily withdraw.

I want to keep it non trade if poss, as last year I had one trade who attended who proved to be a PITA, who insulted me and my room and speakers on about three forums because his product didn't win the bake-off. I am sure you are fine but I am not going there again as I said at the beginning of the thread.
I know I am trade but I don't make DACs, and Jason is coming I hope for us to use his computer transport with the DACs, but he is in Greece on Holiday at the moment.
Anyway we have another Subjectivist member (and I think Hi-Fi Wigwam member) Deaf Cat on board so unless Marco and Alex drop out we are full, it is a small listening room.
BTW 29mile is hoping to bring a Young DAC.

Having got the thread back from the wilderness can I ask Alex and Marco to confirm attendance, as it is full at the moment with you two coming.

Hi Richard - I'll check with my social secretary this evening and report back.
Any chance of that report back.
And by the way Beechwood we have one space free as Marco can't make it and two if Alex can't make it and it becomes just a Subjectivist event
Hi Richard - and sorry for not replying to your PM - no, I'm sorry - I'd forgotten we are staying with friends in Windsor (but was duly reminded...) - sorry to mess you about.
