The man is a multi millionaire, who cares about money just as much as the next man, plus he has a lot of cash invested in property which is not ideal for someone who champions his anarchic views.

Exactly...

If he wasn't so outspoken no-one would bat an eyelid and his ability to get people to at least think about if not question society's norms would diminish greatly.

No point in having an opinion AND be in a well earned position to express them if you prefer to keep quiet and not rock the boat.. that would be a great waste off oportunity.

Rocking the boat should be the norm!


Whether you think, or not, that it is the human race's absolute right to herd, fatten and kill other animals for their own gain (it only takes a small bit of re-framing to turn this mindset towards another race) one should still be able to appreciate that this small gesture of one meat free day at this festival is a step in the right direction in acting against climate change and against the diversion of precious water resources in dry countries away from crops for the poor to rear meat for the middle classes and above.

How much Morrissey's gagging at the festival in 2009 at the smell of burning flesh was genuine or staged is another question but good on him for actually saying something worthwhile rather than most air-headed celebrity crap that's spewed.

Do yourself a favour & take a look at a period of Earths history known as Iceball or Snowball earth (i think it was about 650,000,000 years ago). At that time the average world temperature was -50C, yet at the end of it in a couple of centuries it went from -50C to +50C :lol:

Yes it is. And farmers now grow crops for use as 'green' fuel instead of food crops because the subsidies are greater.

The whole 'canine teeth are for meat' is the kind of 'fact' that people pass between each other but doesn't bare up to scientific, archeological or evolutionary scrutiny. One of those old wive's tales.

I'm sure they're quite handy for meat though, just as they are for any tough plant or vegetable.

That's ok..

Personally I couldn't say as I don't have all the information to hand and probably never will.

Instead I tend to trust the thousands upon thousands of scientists who see evidence for it across different fields, scientists who's default stance is 'I don't know' or 'we can't say for sure' and yet still think that it is a real phenomenon.

In fact, the very same people who will have studied and brought to YOU the history of the earth also see human made climate change as a real phenomenon.

Therefore I tend to go with that as I have no way of making the judgement myself (sure, I can read as much one sided info as I want on both sides but still have no idea which conflicting account is true..).

As for if being 'a tax' - well, it's a rubbish way of taxing people - much easier to simply exploit low interest rates and bail-outs to 'tax' the people. The recent climate events like droughts in Russia and now across the US and even Europe are effectively a massive 'tax' imposed by the Earth! These are some of the main reasons food prices have risen so much recently, causing the poor to go hungry and then the rich to profit further by exploiting the higher prices.

It's a pile of poo! Here we are in England taxing everyone to within an inch of their lives & yet China & India are more than making up for our reduced carbon output! Why the hell should we suffer when other countries just frankly don't give a monkeys? China is building a new coal fired power station nearly every week to keep up with demand for power :eek:

While China keeps getting bigger on the world markets we appear to be literally cutting our own throats :rolleyes:

You want some green agenda while we go down the toilet then fine... A little more & you'll have us round that U bend & well & trully flushed & no longer a factor in the worlds economy.

We need to get the hell off of this planet or we'll all be stuffed! Preferably sooner than later :cool: Not due to global warming, but resourses. Lots of metal, water & other goodies out there in the asteroids :)

Not really.. People are more scared of obscure risks, local fines like unjust parking fines etc etc and so constantly forking out for insurance they never use or newer items to replace old ones they already have, pay unjust fines or fees incase they are increased because they feel they 'must have done something wrong'. Never had anything imposed on me that I've been aware of that is due to me being scared of global warming.

That is all about economic policy and not global warming. The UK has been rewarding big money for decades whilst taxing the population over and over. Thousands of companies moving production overseas (incentivised by many governments) has predictably also shifted innovation to these other countries while CEOs get rich off the extra profits, effectively pillaging the UK of potential wealth.

The UK is in severe financial difficulty due to encouragement of risky, short term growth and then handing further cash to keep the risk takers alive only to encourage further risk for short term growth before more collapse later. We're being taxed to the hilt to keep the policy going.

China and India have taken other decisions that will also land them in difficulties and their population growth is such that if they fail to grow economically, many will literally starve to death! China has taken on trillions of US debt which will inflate to nothing over the next few years, the only way out being to dump it which will kill the dollar and accordingly their export business. China is suffering both drough and floods and severe polution due to their own environmental policies.

Really not an enviable position to be in and again, nothing to do with global warming - only human decision making.

I've not expressed any 'green agenda' other than a meet free day at a meaty festival being a good thing.

Just try out another way of doing things for a change and perhaps people will stumble upon better ways of living that work.

The things that you've mentioned that piss you off won't change either if everyone is so against people speaking their minds or effecting change in even the smallest way..
