I have for sale a pair of Rogers LS7t speakers with a set of Partington open frame stands.

These have been used in my second system for about eighteen months. They are in full working order, with no visible damage to the drivers or surrounds. I’d venture that they sound better than when new. The titanium tweeter has not been aggressive in my system and room. They are very much suited to sitting on the open frame Partingtons with spikes. They have performed as you would expect a thin-walled, large box of this type would. Good imaging and excellent linearity - from the top down to about 60Hz. In room response will extend to about 40 cycles per second, dropping off by, I guess, about 6dB. The mid-range is typically well mannered and vocal reproduction, within this class and price range, is superb. The front firing port does give you a little more flexibility if you have to site near walls. I've been using the internal crossover and will include the Chord terminal jumpers that I've made up to link the posts.

There’s informative opinion here: http://www.mhennessy3.f9.co.uk/rogers/ls7.htm (http://www.mhennessy3.f9.co.uk/rogers/ls7.htm)

Cosmetically they are good rather than excellent, in a black gloss finish. There are some scratches and dings to the top of one cabinet, suffered before my ownership. The spikes have caused pitting to the underside, but this is not visible in use. The grilles are in superb nick. The stands are acceptable but would certainly benefit from a little light restoration.

I will part with them for £195, collected from Cardiff. Queries welcome. Thanks folks.

Specifications are as follows:
Serial numbers 023709A and 023709B
Nominal impedance: 8 ohms
Sensitivity: at 1m with an input signal of 2.83 volts, SPL is 88dB
Maximum programme power rating: 200 Watts
Axial frequency response at 1m: 55 Hz to 20 kHz +/- 2dB

Dimensions: 56cm tall, 27.2cm wide, 28cm deep (Stands are 45cm tall with spikes, 28cm wide, 29cm deep)

A lot of speaker for the money, should be a good purchase for somebody.

If the bass/ mid driver is the same as the LS7, it's a massive magnet on it.

I might have been interested, but have a pair of LS7's

That tweeter should be quite sweet by now, as a pair I heard several years ago had mellowed out beautifully. My Gawd, when new, that tweeter tweeted fiercely  but after some years, the sonics were much better integrated.

Lovely speakers/stands for the money and if Spendor SP1's are just too expensive (later ones with suspect rubber driver surrounds definitely will be), the LS7 in either form kept reasonably out from walls and corners, will sound delightfully clear and surprisingly unfettered I think.

I thought this was the model with the 'pierced nipple' tweeter - it doesn't look like these have a hole in the dome centre like that.

They appear to actually have a well designed bass reflex port to :) A good size so low velocity air movement & a rounded edge. Not sure if that is repeated on the cabinet interior but at least it's promising!

Less port turbulence due to it's size should give better fidelity with bass where it counts. More control over the driver to.

Nice :)

Well, I have the LS7, think they have heavy bitumen pads inside damping the panels, good for sound, but pretty flammable!

Safety first. It's a good thing.

No takers at this stage of play, so the Rogers and Partingtons are now on eBay. Starting bid is £150, no reserve, so someone may get a lot of speaker for a modest outlay.

I also have two pairs of used valves for auction.
Two ecc83/12AX7 Mullard yellow print lovelies, 1960s vintage, I think.
Also, two Telefunken ecc82/12AU7 valves, with the desirable 17mm long anode plates. Both of these have the diamond stamp on the base.

What model are those Partington stands?

Good question. I tried to find answers to that when I bought them off a chap in Pontypridd (for 99p in an auction - he looked so dejected I gave him a fiver so that he could at least buy a pint with the proceeds) but my research ended in vain. The font suggests an early example of the company's work. I thought it suited the LS7s. I've not come across another pair.
