Hi

Used to be into HiFi many years ago but recently I decided music was missing from my life so I've started to look into it again. I live in a flat now so using the speakers is a little tricky. I've been unsatisfied with the headphones which is what bought me here.

Really excellent thread on using a mac as a source here, people are really knowledgeable and helpful. I look forward trying the many suggestions and recording my experiences.

Welcome, Colin. I'm afraid you won't get any help from me on Macs, but you'll find plenty of help in here and with headphones, too. You may even find that sometimes, it isn't the headphones that are poor but the driving electronics. That's why many of us have a Caiman DAC, for example. Look around and ask questions, we're a friendly bunch here.

What are your musical preferences?


Embarrassily, mostly pop. Adele, Kate Bush, Simply Red, Madonna, stuff like that. I like some of the clasical arias and some classical rock such as Emma Shapplin's Carmine Meo and Malcome McClaren. But my tastes also extend to Marty Robbins, Santana, John Lee Hooker, U2 and Steve Vai. A pretty mixed bag really.

Hi Colin, welcome to AoS from me also :) In reality it doesn't matter what you listen to as long as you enjoy the music, no-one is going to really give a monkeys if you are listening to Rick Astley :lol: Good job as i have one of his CDs :doh: Not been played for an age though...
