Having been a musician and a fringe recording engineer in my youth I have been privy to many of the dark arts in the recording studio.

An artist has a weak voice (Kylie springs to mind) no problem just bring her voice in on another channel, delay it by a few milliseconds and voila its thicker and fuller!!

Pitch control for those timely out of tune squawks that occur when your just plain shite at singing (there are so many). The list goes on and on. It sometimes makes you wonder if what you hear is anything like the real thing at all? I have to admit it quite often spoils my enjoyment of music when I hear an obvious studio tweak.

Anywho, sometimes I think I was happier listening to music on my old £20 record player than I am now? In fact you know what. I know I was.

Granted it sounds better now but alas I have gained too much knowledge to enjoy it as I once did.

Draw what analogies you will people.

Very interesting in what you say about improving someones vocal performance, i'm sure now we have DSP that there are far more tricks we don't probably know about.

I certainly didn't know of this autotune until i read it in the papers :lol:

I good few years back i was painfully into the technicalities of Hi-Fi, totaly destroyed my love for music, even got to the stage where i never hardly played music as i was that obsessed with the Hi-Fi, specialist componets etc etc..All that's took a back seat (well a lot of it ), now i just listern & try to put all that behind me.

Sure is Andre. As stated I was happier with my cheap system in my bedroom when I was at school. Listening to records was enjoyable. Now I strive for something I can't seem to attain.

O yes i loved my first proper Hi-Fi, never had love for a system since..I was naive & would give anything to be back there at that point in my life. I could easily go source that very same system on the used market but the progression (not) & accumilated Knowledge, experience, the wanting, the silly brain waves etc have caused too much damage.

If you ever see any brain washing solution on the market give me a nod please. I may have another chance at happiness & try not to cock it all up next time.
