As it is customary to introduce one's self upon registration I thought I take it upon me to respect this forum rule and introduce myself.

My name is Mohammad and I am an undergraduate student finishing my final year in B.Engineering(civil)/Bachelor of arts(philosophy).

My fascination of sound started from the yearly ages. I was introduce into this world by accident. I still remember the cheap red fake walkman that my cousin gave me as a present.

My interest in musical rigs begun by mp3 players. I migrate from LG to apple to sony and than finally ended up in the world of hifiman. I am hoping for future purchases to migrate into the world of colorfly, but i am quiet happy with the 601 right now.

Like everyone else my interest into headphone begun with Bose (sadly). I was quiet satisfied with the Bose on ear musicality( I didnt know better I thought bass is what music is all about! )

Just like everybody else I slowly become more curious and searched into what is the next best thing. So i started reading stereophile magazine and I remember I eventually I was directed into Grado website. Grado prices shocked me and made me want to know why they cost so much. (Funny I never bought any Grado product) I eventually ended up buying k702, my first serious attempt in the audiophile world. i still remember the day I received my gigantic package in the mail, I could not wait till i could go home and plug the akg k702 to my home stereo integrate amp and boy was I disappointed! So I slowly learned about the impedance, the ohms, the amp, the DAC and understood why I was disappointed!

So as a result I bought a fiio E7 and Fiio E9 [initially wanted to buy a Caiman but didnt :-( ] As I was saving for a serious amp for the k702 I become curious to try some IEM. This made me to buy UETF10 and ER4S( which I love to death) and not long ago I ended up also buying HFI780 and now here I am typing this.

So how did I found about this forum, two words" Gatorized Caiman". My research directed me to this forum and I am planning to buy one of this hopefully by end of this week. Funny world who would have thought Ruby2 would made me find out about Gatorized Caiman! But by the look of it I am glade it did! I guess it was destiny that I put on hold the purchasing of caiman only to be planning to buy his bigger brother down the track

Music for me is all about diversity. My collection of music ranges from the continental mountain range of Andes to the vast cold lands of Mongolia.

However I do find myself tend to listen to the following genre a lot:
1-Ambient music, mostly consist of world of gandulf mostly during the weekend morning
2-Mid-day:Classical European music, mostly cello performance of Yo Yo Ma, Yanni style of fusion, Zakir Hussein tabala duet, Sitar of Ravi Shanker if I am feeling devilish or when I am in serious mood I listen to Mastero Imrat khan
3-Late evening:It is alll about Jazz, whether it is Coleman, Green, Dexter Gordon, Idris Muhammad, Coleman Hawkins or Grant green it is all about Jazz!
4-Night I almost always find myself either listen to Norah Jones and some old persian classical music.

Lately I have being listening to best of the 80s :lolsign: Dont judge me :ner:

Being in Australia i'd have thought maybe you'd have a better chance at the best quality vintage Japanese gear, some of which never saw our shore. A chance i'd take up if possible

I am still relatively new into this world. I always thought of going to sunday markets and browse and see what I can find.

talking about vintage Japanes gear I remember my sister father inlaw had this old Yamaha reel and this other tube amp also yamaha which he used to play his recording on, (he is a musician and plays violin) on pair of BBC roger monitoring which he always talks about. So one day he called me up and asked me if I was interested in buying something similar to his rig, he found a good deal in some second hand shop (he got it down to $400 AUD) Since I thought spending $400 dollars on something that old was not wise I decline. I still hate myself for saying no. I will definitely start soon. Now it is matter of getting the finance side of things fixed. Cannot wait till the graduation date.

Welcome, Moe. Sydney is a fantastic city, must be a wonderful place to live. I agree with Andr'e: knowing your links with the Pacific Rim countries, there must be a healthy used market for Japanese esoterica over there. Good luck with your system building and keep us apprised!

Thank you means a lot. To me enjoy recorded music comes in two section, section one is about find what you like, the second section is about find the right gear and modifying it.
there is no great feeling than find the equipment which gives you that tingling sensation all over your spin when you first time hear your most favourite track on it.

My stereo set up is only an onkyo receiver with a pair of Jamo speakers (S604) It is alright for what I paid for but I feel I dont get the same experience as i get from my headphones. Hopefully in near future I will have the necessiary knowledge to be able to able to enter vintage Japanese audio gear.
