1st came Audio Note Japan.

Then Audio Note UK.

Now that Vifa is a Chinese brand will big names like Audio Note be next?

How can China use known brand names?

Two entirely different companies I believe where there was a highly acrimonious dispute over the name some years back and the current solution was – it seems – the best solution. UK buyers in the main don’t seem to be confused by the situation as far as I can see.

I have heard the story from both sides and get it,my post was more about other country's taking over national brands,Like the US taking over HP sauce for example, What if the UK took over coke?

It just seems wrong to me.
Or China started using the name Audio Note both Kondo and Peter worked so hard to make an Icon?

It just seems to me if you want success you should earn it yourself not hijack some one else s success.

Exactly.

If the kit was any good, they would use their own name, not pretend it's the good ol', well respected, established product. So many names have now been bought - Quad, Wharfedale, Castle, Audiolab, Cambridge, KEF, Celestion etc.

What do our friends from the Far East think they are buying ?

I should have phrased that better...

What I meant to say is :

What do Hi-Fi enthusiasts in the Far East think they are buying with equipment bearing a well established brand name ? Do they realise it is no longer designed and made in the UK ?

Perhaps it's designed in the UK but manufactured in China?

This isn't something that's confined to China, you know. This has always happened with companies. Don't just blame the new owners of a company for the situation - it's a 2 way thing. The old owners put a price on the reputation they had created and sold at that price.

, What if the UK took over coke?

That would be as bad as the US taking over Cadbury's.

Hang on a minute.....

And actually Kondo is already Chinese. After Konod-san's death some Chinese business people bought all or part of it if I am not mistaken.
There is still production in Japan but some models or components are already made in China.
