I just watched this after listening to the news
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b011pwt6/Panorama_Undercover_Care_The_Abuse_Exposed/
I work in this profession and watching this has reminded me how dark humanity can get.
At the moment I cannot really put my thoughts together
I have always been proud of what I do the people I work with and the people who work them, but watching this makes me feel ashmed and so angry

A few of my thoughts
Firstly That type of Hosiptal rarely works well for people Because due to the amount of people living in the same address it encourages instuitional behaviour, people are een a paitents, staff are poorly trained and motivated. The only reaon why you have o many people living in one place is to cut costs. What works a lot better is a few people living in a home and being part of the community with active lives based om interests and skills.
I would of gone into that place and even without knowing what was happening I would know something was wrong as people are supposed to be encouraged to live a full and independent life as possible, that is not clearly happening.
The organisation should of been monitoring what was happening, This mean monthly checks If I saw as many incident sheets with restraint on it would of worried me right away I would want to observe what was happening and why.
I have worked with people that are very complex to work with and I never had to restrain them.
I hope the people involved end up in jail It is where they deserve to be

A shocking indictment of our care system. These monsters should be lined up against the wall and shot IMO. What makes it even worse is it's probably just the tip of the iceberg. It's hard to believe these so called people belong to the same species as someone like you John.

I know a lot of projects and helped develop some really cutting edge services so this has shocked me
This is like going back in time say 20 years ago. I have heard a few torie about people lives that is even worse than this.
What really worries me how this was not picked up by CQC the regulatory body and why senior management did or did not do around the reports. I would expect a proper invetigation into what happened and why. Thi would mean looking at all the document and looking for pattern with the amount of restraints this would be clear sign something was wrong
