I only just twigged! Sorry if I'm barking up the wrong tree, but does it actually work? I bet it sounds grainy... He could branch out and make them professionally, or take a leaf out of our book and just enjoy it for himself. Is that a Roots Manuva LP? No... probably not! ;)

Funnily enough, for the "joke" about the LP it was a toss up between Roots Manuva and Timber Timbre - I decided more people would know the former! Still, wasn't really worth logging on for, was it!

i think your right colin,i was talking to a funk/breaks dj the other week with a couple of other people and i asked him if he used vinyl.

He answered no,which i followed with a look of hatred towards him,but that wasn't the shocking thing, what shocked me was that there was a kid there about 20 yrs old who pops in with 'what's vinyl'.

I thought he was taking the piss but sadly no,it seems the writing is on the wall :(

I think we are missing the point here - can this TT benifit from a Mike New bearing and platter? And while we are at it, how about fitting it with a Jelco tonearm?

No 1200 is complete without a working strobe light.

I am anxiously awaiting to hear the results.

 That would make it a long forgotten Edison prototype.

I have an old mix album by Paul Oakenfold :o and on the back it reads "this mix was done with vinyl. Keep it real" . Now of course he uses mp3

I think dj's are just getting lazy and cannot be arsed to carry records anymore or pay someone to carry them the cheap bastards

I might start a facebook group to bring back vinyl mixing, the way it should be done and if your reading this Paul Oakenfold or any other 'i can't be arsed to carry all those records' dj's hang your head in shame.

I went to Goa years ago and the djs on the beach were using DAT tape machines. I could see the practicality but they were dull mixes compared with the proper vinyl mixes.

That must have been a right beech to machine. I wonder if it maintains a steady thirty tree and a third?

I'll stick with my effort.

I bet that guy could build a mean all wood plinth for a 1200. He certainly seems to have the skills.

Is that just a box the whole TT sits in or have you replaced the whole bottom portion?

is for me, too.

I think KAB do similar (although not as nice) plinths - I remember discussing them with kevin there, years back when I almost bought a fully kab-ed technics from him.

Where did you get that nice puck ?

scoobs
07-06-2011, 20:00
Thanks fellas. I got the idea from KAB and made a couple to order in maple, oak and this one in zebrano. It's just a box with cut outs at the rear for cables. I wanted to make my 1210 a little more living room friendly. The puck is a Clearlight RDC puck, it's the only piece of analogue kit that has remained through several turntable changes, nice n' heavy - a deck would seem naked to me without one now.
