New speaker kit

This is the latest addition to my speaker kits. It's actually a dual driver system rather than 2-way as there's no crossover in the conventional sense.

Hi Steve,

I wish you the very best with this speaker mate. I'm on the final stages of my copy of your DBR-100 and although iv only listened to them with my garage system they sound very good so far and im looking foward to finishing the exteriors off and getting them set up in my front room.

A review is more important these days mate? Have you any customers who use them already who can comment on how good they are? Better still make a set up for demo purposes, I will collect them, and listen in earnest and post findings?

Early days. I'm expecting feedback on the DDR-160 from a customer real soon now. Zoidburg cloned my DBR-100 and commented on them in this same thread.

I do have a demo pair of the DDR-160 and thank you for offering to collect them for evaluation. I will give this serious consideration. You are of course very welcome to give them a listen at my place.

I need them on the end of my Rowlamd gear and am actually after some new speakers anyway floor standers or large stand mounts

Any feedback on this speaker kit yet. how much would you expect to pay for those speakers if they were from a big manufacturer and are they comparable to any of the big named speakers?
I will be in the market for a speaker kit early next year but haven't decided to go open baffle or bass reflex yet although I have received some great advice so far from AOS Members.

Hi Bostod, no feedback yet but Zoidburg in this thread has cloned the DBR-160 and I believe he is going to post his impressions shortly.

As far as I'm aware there are no commercial speakers of a similar dual driver configuration so it's difficult to say how much you would pay for a branded off the shelf product but I'd guess at £500 -£600.

Hello there!

I have recently completed a DBR-160 clone thanks to a lot of help from Steve. I originally started with the 100 and then modified the cabinet for use with a misson mid / woofer that I think Steve had originally thought about using.

I hav'nt had them up an running for long (less than a week so far) and I still have some tweeking to do but I have to say im pretty impressed with them so far. I must stress that my build was very much a "budget" build and was really an exercise for me to have some fun with (Iv never made my own speakers before). I bought the drivers myself and very cheekily copied steves plans. Fair play to Steve though he has helped me a lot through my build and without him I would'nt be sitting here listening to them!

I will post some more feedback of their actual sound once I have had more of a chance to get used to them. But I think if you are in the market for a easily affordable DIY project which sounds great (to my ears anyway, and especially for the money) I think you could do a lot worse than the 160's. Also Steves a nice bloke has done nothing but offer me help and guidance throughout the process.
