Hello, I'm Mark from Worthing

Hi all, newbie here. Stumbled on this forum yesterday and read some rave reviews about some cheap Belkin cables so had to have a good nose about.

Basically, been collecting hifi since the early 80's, done the never ending upgrade path in the pursuit of perfect sound. Had Luxman amps, B&W speakers, chord sig cables etc etc. Took me a long time, and thousands of spondooleys before i realised there's no such thing as the "right sound", more a kind of sound I like and enjoy. Sold all my expensive kit over the last couple of years and downgraded to cheaper alternatives, but mixing and matching all the way. Right now i'm listening to a Nad C515 cdp through a Yamaha A S500 amp, connected to Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 speakers with solid silver core speaker cables and i/c's. Waiting for the arrival of Diamond 10.3's for a bit more low end grunt. Love the sound the system produces, suits me fine, maybe i'm going deaf a little, I listen mainly to Heavy Metal, Industrial Metal, Thrash Metal, Hard Rock etc. That's about it I think, all the best ;)

Thanks for your intro post - that does the job!
Like Jon I also have a connection with your part of the world - I lived in Steyning for most of my school days (my folks still live there) & I went to Worthing Tech for a couple of years.
I'd agree with you on your 'right sound' assessment, I realised in the mid-90's during a loud gig that there was no way I could ever hope to replicate that in my living room. Since then, my approach changed drastically.

Hi Mark, welcome aboard. Currently a lot nearer to you than I would normally be - on holiday at Bognor Regis this week - yep, Butlins for Avatar, and not really a "holiday" for Mum & Dad, expect now when she's finally gone to bed and I can catch up on the forum and have a glass of wine. So, exactly like at home then, not a holiday at all!

I did just hear some very loud thrashy music when outside on the balcony - was that you? No wonder you're going deaf buddy! :lol:

Seriously, though - I think you've probably realised what a lot of us have - you don't need to spend silly money to get a great sounding system. And anyway, it's the music that's important at the end of the day.
