Seems CAT 7 is very well shielded, braided and can handle loads of bandwidth 10Gbps.

Has anyone made interconnects from CAT7?
It's pretty inexpensive stuff for what it can do.
I'm thinking of making some just for fun.

I'm pretty sure these or cables like them can be used to transmit video over longer than normal distances from HDMI. Obviously you need a convertor & another at the other end to convert back to HDMI.

Probably Cat5 or 6, same thing applies though. Not sure they'd be too good as audio cables mind as they were designed for digital data. No good for digital audio cables either i don't think

Hi,
I've done some RCA connection cables with CAT 7, very disappointing result.

Harsh sound, no homogeneity between low, med and high, not pleasant sound at all.

Me too, it sounded dire.

Which shows that wire is not wire, is not wire, is not wire, to audiophool ears

I spent days and I mean days braiding Cat 5 into a pair of 10 foot speaker cables after we ripped out miles of the stuff from our Head Office at the time. I could hardly move my hands afterwards, was covered in blisters and small cuts. I couldn't wait to fire them up, and excitedly sat down to listen. So I was pretty p***** off that they were utter utter shite! I think I did something wrong, because lots of people swear by them, but buggered if I was going to have another go! If you want to lose a large portion of your life, instructions here (http://www.mejiatryti.com/SpeakerCable/sevenbraid.html) or these are slightly easier...
