I have had the Minolta Rokkor lens taken out from my old SRT 303B camera which I bought in the seventies but has not been used for decades. So I ordered a Minolta MC lens to Sony Alpha mount adaptor from eBay and tried to see what it would do on a digital camera. I fired quite a few shots but it was so difficult to focus with this lens manually, so focusing could be hit- or- miss and challenging.

Here are some pictures shot by my Sony A300 with the old MC Rokkor F1.2 lens:-

Lovely images, as usual, King! :)

What was the wine you were drinking in the first picture? I'm curious!

Marco.

Hi Marco,

The wine was Italian origin, called Bardolino. :)

I remember how "sexy" the old SRT 101 looked with this mofo of a lens!

Most manufacturers were offering a 1.4 as a standard 50/58mm lens, but Minolta had this beaut as an option.

Hi Hamish,

Yes, I am really enjoying and loving it.
The resolution of this lens remains quite high even at F1.2 and very close focus distance. It has excellent sharpness at F2 and beyond. The depth of field of this lens is amazingly shallow at wide open aperture and the bokeh is superb, one of the very best lenses that Minolta had ever made in the past. Unfortunately, it is a manual lens without auto focus and auto exposure, just a slight compromise.

As long as it fits the camera there's a way to make it work... And that's what matters ... I used to have a lower end nikon that I used older lenses with no lens/camera interaction with plenty of good results .. The benefits of digital - if it doesnt cone out, take it again!

I think you can get these old lenses chipped to give you ae you know ... This looks the thing ... http://www.rharris-images.com/Lens-Conversion/Rokkor-to-Sony/Items-and-pricing/11433742_5K2xx#806360441_xTfVd
