The question was "does anyone care", not "does everyone care".
I am not that huge floyd fan, but I know some, and I can see for them this was the equivilant of Lennon and Macca getting back together for a show. Its important because it matters to people.
The Wall has some good tracks but too much cod-opera bollocks, I could never listen to the whole thing, and the live show was old hat 20 years ago when Waters did it from Berlin. So a couple of multi millionaires have kissed and made up - big deal, try making a decent new record instead of re-releasing your back catalogue yet again...
Only Martin (Macca) and Nick (lurcher) seem to have understood the intention behind the laconic thread title.
My dismissive post was not to ask if people enjoyed the concert, clearly they did and I'm glad (I too, saw the concert first time round).
My sarcasm was directed towards the 'let's kiss and make up' antics between two control freaks, who should have done this years ago. I have to confess however that it wouldn't matter to me if the Floyd never play another gig. Sadly Rick Wright is no longer with us and as far as I'm concerned, Floyd post Waters were just running on empty. Just listen to Roger Water's 'In The Flesh', to realise that Waters is Pink Floyd.

Roger has clearly mellowed as he's got older. I think a good deal of his change of attitude is down to the way that now he's proved that he can carry the Floyd brand with his own name - he no longer has anything to be jealous about or prove any more. If anything he's been more successful as a touring persona than Dave and the others have. At the show on the 12th he 'spoke to' his younger self in bemused terms, clearly very self-aware at what an awkward bugger he'd been back at the time. Age has definitely given him perspective.
I'm just pleased that they can perform together again, I couldn't care less if they never toured or recorded again, but the thawing in relations has meant that this time round at least their back catalogue is finally recieveing the care it should have receieved 15 years ago, with extras that fans of other bands have come to take for granted.
I bloody hope the cost of the re-releases comes down - but beggars can't be choosers :rolleyes:

Nop 'Obscured By Clouds' was the album before 'DSOTM'
Just listen to Roger Water's 'In The Flesh', to realise that Waters is Pink Floyd.
Not really it's just an in-house sound they created between em later on..
I quite like The Division Bell.

I've seen Waters twice now and was back stage the last time he played Dublin (courtesy of Snowy White). He's a quiet sort of mellow chap to talk to .....albeit briefly. According to Mr White though he is still a hellraiser!
I've been offered tickets to see the Wall later this month i.e. next week but I am not sure I can be arsed as it depresses the fuck right outta me lol.

Have to agree, I find Floyd post Waters to be turgid and ponderous, to be honest even though I did see the original wall gig, I've never been that fond of the album either...Animals was the last good album they released IMHO ;)

I hope so too Nick, but alongside The Beatles, Pink Floyd are the jewels in the EMI crown and EMI have always charged top dollar for anything by these artists. Only recently have the prices for the original recordings dropped to around a tenner.

Goodness it must be bad. I recently bought 'The Final Cut' for £5 and felt ripped off. I think of 'The Final Cut' as 'Amused to Death' "part 1", but nowhere near as good as the latter.
Lets hope Roger Waters has now managed to remove that chip off his shoulder that was about the size of Gibraltar.

Managed to buy the ticket for Roger Waters for Wednesday the 18th through e bay...right in the front. I am a big PF fan. They are releasing entire remastered PF back catalogue in September.

I've a suspicion, based upon the WYWH and DSOTM sets, that Meddle and AHM will include the relevant BBC Paris Theatre 'In Concert' shows as their second discs. AHM is likely to include the vinyl and 8 track Quad mixes, and wouldn't it be good if Meddle included the unreleased Quad mix the band did at the time? Dreams...
Given that we all have already bought the vinyl, and the cd's, and then the remix cd's I think Pink Floyd and EMI have had plenty of money for the artistic rights from the likes of us already.
We club together buy the whole lot, FLAC it, and then distribute it to AOS members who can prove they have already got an original copy :lol:
