Superb programme on TV tonight...

For anyone interested in Italian food and culture, get yer TV tuned to "Two Greedy Italians" tonight at 8pm on BBC2, with Gennaro Contaldo and Antonio Carluccio (two of my favourite chefs) :)

Although last week's episode up north was more appropriate, it gives a good insight into the type of food culture I was exposed to and upbringing I had as a child.

There were no bloody oven chips or microwave meals in sight, and men and women knew where their place was!!

Don't watch telly, very rare but i watched a drama the other night called 'Exile', was good

I watched it on iplayer and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Gorgeous scenery, loads of colour and style; very Italian.
As for the food, well I kinda went off my dinner, a rather hurriedly prepared mussels in tomato sauce after watching them cooking linguini on the boat :steam:
I did think it romanticized the past. From what my in-laws tell me things were really rough in the 1950’s; considerably worse in the South where they come form.
Much like in England a North South still divide exists.

You’re a lucky man Marco and rightly proud of having a more intimate knowledge of the area and family connections there.
A tourist impression of some of the cities of Italy can be a lovely experience but having friends or family living there allows for a much more intense experience of the culture.

Never been to Italy, but it's my favourite food when we are looking for a good restaurant :)
