View Full Version : Hello from the city of the leaning tower
Hello,
my name is Carlo and I live in Pisa. I recently moved from Rome, and I am slowly re-tuning my system. I subscribed here attracted by the excellent AOS Library...
I am listening mostly classic jazz both using both vinyl and "liquid" setup. I enjoy the sound of tubes and open baffle speakers.
All the best,
Carlo
Hi Carlo, welcome to AoS, and glad you are enjoying the library - have you also enjoyed the Gallery - it would be great if you could add your system to it sometime, and tell us a bit more about it? :) (Not sure what a "liquid" set up is?)
You live in a lovely country - though I've never been to Pisa. I'm sure Marco the site owner will be along to welcome you in your native tongue some time - all I can manage is Ciao!
Enjoy the forum. :)
Yes welcome Carlo l too am curious as to what is a liquid system:scratch:

Hi Carlo,
Welcome to The Art of Sound from me too. It's great that you're finding the library useful - what did you particularly like about it?
By the way, good jazz, valve & open baffles - nice combination!
Cheers
Ciao Carlo,
Benvenuto a AoS! :)

Ciao
Carlo
Hello,
sorry for using the term "liquid": just now I realize that it is very popular only in italian hifi boards. We call liquid the music converted to a computer file (it is no more "contained" in a physical medium such as CD, SACD or vinyl). My "liquid" setup is just a Mac Mini + USB to SPDIF converter + a DAC. Some details about my system here (http://www.gourmaudio.it/personal/impianto/Welcome.html)

Don't apologise - you've educated us - and a great logical explanation - I think we should start using the term immediately!

Ringraziamenti per la vostra offerta gentile. Ricorderò la prossima volta che vengono in Italia :)
Ciao,
Marco.

Thanks John,
I knew that, it was another good reason to join AOS...

cjunkk.
We have taken many holidays in Italy and love the place. However we had a week in May a few years ago and visited Pisa. The temperature had been about 35 degrees in the weeks before we went. During our week we had many thunderstorms and lots of torrential rain. There was a thermometer on the outside of one of the hotels and on one day at lunchtime it was 12 degrees:eek:
We visited Viareggio when another storm was brewing. It was really very scary, it was as though the sky was about to engulf us. It was pitch black at 3pm......nice :lolsign:

Hello Ali,
I find them great! Their designs are very careful about critical components such as output transformers and capacitors!
