My wife and I share the same birthday so every 10yrs when it's a milestone year we go for a blow out city break somewhere nice, book a 5 star hotel and give the credit card a caneing. This year we chose Vienna.

Lots more boring snaps at the below link which can viewed as a slideshow.

We looked hard but didn't see Midge Ure anywhere :)

Nice pics, Rich.

Sounds like Love's Great Adventure. At least you're not Passing Strangers. Hopefully the hotel didn't have The Thin Wall between you and you're neighbours - I think I'd better stop there... :)

Never been - but looks full of history, culture and great architecture.

Yeah Alex, it's certainly a nice place if a little on the pricey side, but heck it's only once every 10yrs!

The great thing about Vienna is that everything is quite close together around a central circular road called the 'Ring' and so you can get to most of the sights easily on foot, which is good if you have limited time. There are LOTS of museums and palaces to look round and you would need a lot more than the 3 days we had if you want to get round them all.

Excellent photos and looks like you had a wonderful time.

I remember passing through Vienna airport a few years ago and was surprised to fing it had a hard core pornography shop.

It was surprising how many business men were walking around clutching non descript brown paper bags, which were in fact highly conspicuous by their presence in the hands of the suits.

Cool. Congratulations on the passing decades and Happy Birthday to both you and your wife…..awww, born on the same day
I think that’s rather romantic.
I’ve not been to Vienna. It came quite close but if I recall at the time a trip to Prague worked out cheaper so we did that instead.

Bit off topic but a bit of fun.

Q. Which comedians pet was called Vienna and which comedy series was it from?

A. ? Answer tomorrow if no one gets it. I bet they will though.
