What exactly does a demagnetization track on the Test & Burn-in CD do?

It makes us think of a problem we didnt know we had.

It makes a horrible noise that puts a 'knotch' in your hearing, so when you listen to music straight afterwards, it sounds 'different'

I was also wondering what that was about, I used to have demagnetising tape for a tape deck but I have never heard of this with CD's.

I believe there was/is a de-magnetiser for records..

You can pick up Sumiko 'FB1' Flux Buster cheap enough.

I have a Densen Demagic CD and can't say I've noticed much difference. However, the Cleanwave function on my PS Audio PPP regenerator does make a significant difference to the sound of the system, purportedly demagnetising system component power supplies via an unusual mains waveform.

I've come to the opposite conclusion about the PPP Cleanwave function - the system sounds really flat and uninvolving for ages after using Cleanwave (I get the same effect after using a Gryphon cartridge demagnetiser). Things may be different when I get the new PS Audio PerfectWave P5 but I believe the Cleanwave function is the same as in my PPP.

Try the Densen Demagic CD in the car - you may be surprised!

That was funny! I ran it this morning on setting off for work and felt like I was piloting an alien attack ship! Everything sounded crystal clear afterwards but I wouldn't like to say whether I could hear an improvement or not.
