I am after a Marantz 63 CDP which I intend to use as a transport played through a Beresford Caiman. If anyone has one, or knows somebody else who may be willing to part with one, please let me know?

It doesn't need to be a K1 as it's only going to be a transport, but anything considered - however, it must be in good cosmetic condition and fully working :)

Thanks

P.S. I have already looked at all the ones currently available on eBay and have a saved search active too ;)

Pssst - Arcam Alpha 5 or 6 - FAR better mech, longer life (apart from loading gear which is available on fleabay) and FAR superior tracking of bad discs, the best I've seen apart from certain ES Sony's.......

According to Paul Miller, the CD63 had a high-jitter transport as standard...

Damn, I just let a good one go on eBay this morning (Alpha 6) which was a couple of miles down the road

The Alpha 5 lends itself to Avondale and similar mods, but with the Caiman you won't want them probably. The Alpha 6 was considered an upgrade at the time, but today is a bit of a blind alley, so they often fetch less. the transport is the same though and although I haven't asked if he'd supply non customers, Avondale do have stocks of fully refurbished mechs should you need one.

have to argee with A5 comments ...as I've got both knocking around both modded and unmodded ..

you'd be stunned at the 63 once hdam is bypassed .....infact I go as far as to say that in my opinion the hdam was put in to drop the performance of the 63 as opposed to the flagship model of the day !

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest :O

There are many mods available for the 63 as well on the Acoustica site and i do have to admit the 63SE looks a darned sight better than the A5...
