AKG K702 different cables, are they worth it?

I have been wondering for a while now whether to try upgrading the cable on my AKG K702 headphones since it is very easy to just unplug this cable & plug in another.

I am very happy with the sound of the AKG's & I do wonder how much of a difference changing the cable can make to the sound & if it involved opening up the headphones I wouldnt even think about it, its really only because its so simple to plug in another I thought it might be worth a try, so I thought I would see what everyone says on here before trying out anything incase its a waste of money.

So if anyone has any thoughts on this im all ears ;) im guessing that AKG probably hasnt put the best of cables on the headphones but im also very sceptical of the differences it can make, but I will keep an open mind to all this as I have read that some people prefer copper, some prefer silver wire but this was with interconnects, not headphone wire so if anyone has ever done any experiments with different types of cables on these headphones id love to hear all about it.

I tried this on HD600 in the past and really helped I have no idea if they work on the 702 I only heard the 701 which were not easy to replace the wiring
I think it comes down to how much you listen to headphones and how important it is to get that last bit of detail When I did it with the HD600 it made them the most holographic headphones I ever heard

Yes its not as easy with the 701's, I certainly wouldnt want to take the headphones apart but since its so easy with the 702's it might be worth a try.

I listen to the headphones a lot & I cant imagine how it can be improved over what it is now but if a cable change gives even the slightest benefit then it would be worth doing as I cant imagine AKG spending too much on the cable.

Sorry I cannot help any more around this my guess if your source and headamp are good enough it will make a difference Perhaps make up some cables as the ones you buy will not be cheap I used Cardas when I did this. In the end even with A Lehman class A amp driving them just could never really get them to boggie and gave up on headphones after that
