I've just started cycling again after some 25 years of abstinence.
I've been spurred on by my son's desire to go out for a ride on his bike (he's only 10, so no sniggering at the back), and it's slow progress on foot.
I've managed to inherit a (previously unused) cycle from a friend, and now I'm officially knackered - this pedal it yourself malarky is bloody hard work.

It is getting easier, as muscles that haven't seen service in a long time are flexing again, but it's early days yet......

I used to really love mountain biking and only a few years ago I used to compete in some big Thai mountain bike races (not really competitive to be honest. ;)) but unfortunately my knees have started to give out and I can no longer climb steep hills.

This year I decided to sell my beautiful mountain bike. This has been a constant source of sadness for me. More than anything else in my life thus far.

A great way of keeping some semblance of fitness Chris...

I had to pack in football about 6 years ago due to various injuries, fortunately my knees are OK so cycling is an excellent low impact option for me (sorry about your knees Dave).

A bunch of us go out on most Saturdays, for about 30 to 40 miles, taking in a couple of country pubs on the way, that's pretty much the basis for each weeks route...a bit 'last of the summer wine' but good fun none the less. ;)

I was proudly telling my elder brother about my new found cycling enthusiasm, when he told me he'd done 300Km last Sunday...not bad for a 58 year old
