Optinica vinyl turntable rp-7100

Does anyone here have experience of this turntable? I am curious.

Looks to me like a typical over-complicated automatic turntable (grossly sonically compromised as a result), and the ideal candidate to end up as an ornament, if something critical, and long discontinued by the manufacturer, goes pop! ;)

My advice? AVOID!!

I've had two.

They're stylish, quite well built and the lid is a proper sheet of glass, not the usual plastic guff. Neither of mine showed any electrical or operational issues and they sound pleasant enough. They are, however, not fully programmable like an ADC Accutrac, but you can skip tracks and play specific ones.

I think Optonica were Sharp, my fathers mate had one together with the most horrible giant Rotel Reciever you ever did see, he also had a pair of massive & i mean massive DIY speakers (Cabs must have been 6' tall x 4' wide)...You could feel the floor bouncing over the road, he claim he blew a window out one day with the sound pressure :lol:
