Just to say I heard these speakers at Tims and would agree with David thoughts, they are really open witha big soundstagea suprising amount of space, the kind of speakers you can just keep listening too. Nice work Tim I really hope these speakers sell well, as they deserve too.

Good review - well done MAD! (I personally like the "sober" styling, which will blend in nicely in most homes.)

When I heard them I heard them through a few amps from the mighty Chameleon through to the Mini T , Tim and I was suprised just how good going through my laptop into his DAC via my USB converter and Mini T it all sounded.

:eyebrows::steam::lol:

It proved the fact the 1920 is very amplifier friend, it just needed a few humble watts.

All for this :) Just out of interest did you use Audax drivers in the 1920? I can't fault them if you are interested so i'm certainly not picking on them. Some of the most consistant drivers out there imo.

Best of luck in your future ventures ;)

They are our custom drivers, not audax! However, some Audax drivers are very good too, Harbeth use them on many of their speakers. Personally, I have no experience of using them for our design, but judged by the performance of the HL5, they are certain not bad.

Current Harbeths use their own custom "Radial" cone material and I understood that they make the cones and assemble the drivers in-house. The tweeters come from the European conglomerate I understand (I believe all the main euro driver manufacturers are jointly owned now).

I'm also told that some of the best drive units now come from the far east (Indonesia?) where some of the senior Scan/Audax people went to following the buy-out in Europe. Cheap manufacturing of well designed drivers makes for better and cheaper speakers, although many distributors take it too far perhaps.
