I haven't posted for some 10 months or so pressure of work and some unfortunate family circumstances and I am in the process of doing a peice about the Caiman the Gator and some exceptional work the Alchemist Mr Paul Hynes PSU,s executed for me on some of my equipment - more of that when the peice is completed and the photographs do justice to the journey.
Late the other evening I was browsing the net and visited a company called Headroom in the states who specialise in Headphone Amps and Dacs of the portable variety ... I bought two of their Microline units which I have to say I have been very pleased with although they have been relegated to use on my bedside table.... Playing Mini discs and my old Sony Mp3.
technology moves on however and my wife bought me an IPod as I have a large music collection being an ex DJ. iTunes is convenient.....
Last year I reached significant age milestone and my wife bought me an IPad one of the first Apps I bought was Tuneradio an Internet Radio App as I am into jazz, one of my favourite stations is Linas Jazz a superb French station playing one of the most catholic ranges encompassing Big Band, Blues, Swing a joy....
I've been wondering how as the stream at 192kbs how I could play it through my system .... Headroom, Apples, Camera connection kit, which comprises of a SD card reader and a USB connector so you can download pictures on to your IPad from the camera.. I was going to buy one any way for the forthcoming summer holidays .... Lovely sunny afternoon In Glasgow ... Time for a wee dram and some banter... After a visit to the Apple store ... Purchase made two wee drams later and home .... The conector worked family pictures sent to parts various direct from the IPad.. Now somewhere whilst recording from a serious back injury. Finding AOS and The Caiman courtesy of the excellent Mr Beresford I bought a long lead with suitable USB connectors from my laptop to my Caiman. .... this morning I remembered where I stored the lead.
Wifey's still in bed .... Checked the ends yes ...both are compatible .... Connect up switch on ..... Oh wow ... Linas Jazz straight of the IPad in glorious stereo courtesey of Stan, Mr Paul Hynes, .... And I can record straight to the Pad ......as well!
correct me if I'm wrong but aren't Apple notorious for for only licensing electronic work arounds Wadia, Krell,Onkyo, etc e en the wife can connect her Netbook and Spotify through the Caiman...... Umm is that a good thing... Haven't tried the the IPod directly yet still enjoying the Jazz.... And the world of Internet radio..... More of the Caiman, Gator, and the amazing Mr Hynes's Alchemy over Easter on a respite from work....
