Good day to one and all.
I am from Wyboston in Bedfordshire and know very little about music in general and even less about systems.
I do not have a specific taste in music as there many things that take my fancy. I can sit and listen, especially when by myself, to classical and opera a bit Morse ish I suppose but smilarly I can sit and listen\watch Eminem.
I am here to try and learn a bit more about systems. In the early 80's I had a Technics deck, JVC JA-S22 amp and a pair of JR149's
I had a friend who wanted some bookshelf speakers so swapped the 149's with some Celestion ones. These were stored in a spare bedroom never used until the 90's and several children later one of my younger boys found it great fun with a drill to perforate just about every part of both speakers.
With the children grown I have just started to consider getting a decent sound system sorted again. I still have the JVC amp and a while ago one of my sons recovered a pair of Sonus Faber Minuettos from a house clearance skip. The clearance guy said they were no good because there was fungus style mould growing on the speaker terminals where they had been stored in a damp garage. Well dried out and cleaned with a soft brush they sound just fine. I have also just purchased a pair of JR150's with a DW2 Subwoofer. One of the reasons for joining is find out more about them and how best to utilise them.
Regards to all, Simon
