Hi all,

Just joined this forum & so I am new to posting having been a watcher or lurker I think you call them :)

As you may have already guessed my name is Toby, ive been into the hifi scene for a long time & I really appreciate good quality well made equipment.

While I adore speakers of any kind, my true love lies with headphones, with my current pair being the AKG-K702 which I am really enjoying the sound of.

This looks like a good place to gain a little more knowledge & share experiences with, so hi everyone! :)

Forgive me but do you mean what do I have them connected up to? im using a Monitor II amp with the K702's.

As for music I really love all types except any of the modern stuff (& certainly no rap), I dont think the older bands can be beaten, Pink Floyd, Queen, Dire Straits, all the good old ones really, I also love classical music.

The AKG's really are smashing headphones though, they have certainly made me appreciate music even more now, they really have a captivating sound especially with vocals, something ive not experienced with other headphones in the past.

AKG Headphones are great - I needed a closed version so I ended up with the AKG K271 - and I love it. Especially when I use it directly with my Ballari RiAA

Yes ive seen those before, they also have the little mini XLR plug dont they? I love that feature, I wouldnt mind trying other cables with mine in the future but im a little skeptical of the results that a cable could make, but I always try & keep an open mind to these things.

Welcome to AoS. I’m sure you had had enough of people asking you about your audio system and what are your tastes in music. Sod all that (although it is the raison d’etre of this forum) – it’s your ‘avatar’! A Jaguar instrument panel, and it’s from an E-type, if I’m not mistaken. Sigh – you the man!

I had many a lift in XJ's of various types, but they seemed to dissolve before ones eyes at one time :(

I must admit I dont see many at all these days, ive been restoring an E-Type for several years now, picked one up in a rather shabby state many years back when the bottom fell out of that market, its now a sort of long term investment & fun project.

The avatar was a photo I found on an e-type site, but looks identical, when you compare a simple thing like the sheer thickness of the doors compared to the tin cans produced nowdays it makes me realise how things have gone down hill from the good old days, they used to build things well back then.

There certainly doesnt seem to be anything really decent around nowdays, certainly nothing in the same league as all the older bands.
