You're just a typical AOS bod, that's all.....

Turntables and amps from 50 years old, CD players from 23 years old, speakers now 37 years old and counting and ten year old car which is looking it at the moment :(

I've just got Marco's old one. Good luck with any bidding and hope it doesn't go to high.

I can see this one going for a similar amount to the one I've just bought ;)

My guess is that your max bid is gonna have to be around £90 to win it!

£56.00 it for.... Not bad! So who won it? :)

Not me .... but not by much .. :) ... As always .. one wonders how high whoever outbid you would have gone ... it slipped off my radar today and I forgot to rebid .. ... .. but more important things to sort out first methinks .. :) ...

There's another one up. Can't see it being cheap, though.

I reckon that one of the newer Michell or even the Pro-ject clamp would do a fairly decent job, though.

Why spend more than £28.50, which is the price of a new Michell clamp ?

I guess it's just a looks thing, Dave, which is why I went for a vintage one. No doubt though the current one works just as well, or perhaps even better... ;)

I think my vintage one looks real pretty.

Nope ... it's just plain and silly liking for vintage looks ... :) .. touch of eye candy for the system if you like .... whatever .. not everyone's idea about a sensible way to spend money and I know the same effect can be had for cheaper ...... but if we all liked the same things ... aghh !

All harmless fun. You could chose to spend your money on coke and hookers. Oh, you do that too?

Yep, and in my opinion, looks better. :)

I guess that it's personal taste, Barry... I quite like the current ones (prefer the all-black anodised version, to the one with the silver knob and black base), but really like the look of the all-silver vintage one I bought:

It looks even classier and more elegant in situ :)

One of the current clamps:

Rather more 'brutal' and utilitarian looking, don't you think? Or perhaps you like that type of thing?

Judge for yourself... For me, the vintage one is classier looking, less 'mass-produced' in appearance, and much more nicely finished. YMMV
