I suppose if you spread it out over a week. About 2 hours a day.

I work very long hours and so seem to either be at work or in bed! I get about 4 hours a day to myself and that includes weekends...:(

I work 11 hour days so only about 2 hours per night weekdays (plus 2 hours in the car). Much more in the weekends.

Probably about 2 - 3 hours at work, as I have a laptop on my desk with Spotify and 50% of my FLAC music library. At home about 3 - 4 hours a night and at weekends 5 - 6 hours a day. So an average week will be 40+ hours.

4 - 5 hours every evening. If i'm not too busy in the day i might put some background music on whilst reading a book, but this isn't often, possibly once or twice a week which might add 5 hours a day...

So about 40 hours a week on average :)

I work from home a lot of the time, and since upgrading my study system it must be in excess of 10 hours a day...Including a couple of hours on the main system downstairs.

I've also got Squeezeboxes in the kitchen and bedroom, I enjoy listening whilst cooking, and always drop off to something ambient at night.

Then come the weekend we knock up a big Squeezebox playlist and have that banging away most of the time.

Having a central FLAC library makes listening so easy ;)

I'm lucky in that respect, not only did my missus agree to my 'No TV in the house' rule when she moved in, she loves watching the football!

I never listen to music while I work. Which leaves me with approximately 1 - 2 hours per day (on average).

I think there is a big difference between "listening to music" and "listening to music" - I nearly always have some form of music on when I get the chance, but when do I actually listen to music, to the exclusion of everything else? Rarely, actually, and I should probably address that... :)

For me, listening to music happens at home on the big rig to the exclusion of everything else, and that for me is about 2 hours before I'm really knackered and have to pour myself into bed.

All other times (including the car) is just listening :)

Actually, that's a very good point - having music playing can be very different to listening to music. In that case I only listen to music for about 2 hours a day tops.

I seldom just listen to music. My weekday train\foot commute is 1hr 20mins each way and so the Sansa Clip+ gets plenty of mileage. I then usually listen to 1 or 2 CD's in the evening whilst smurfing the net so overall around 3.1/2-4hrs per day during the week.

Weekends tend to be a bit less depending on whats occurring

I like to cleanse the palate, so to speak. Spend the entire day in complete depravity, surrounded by silence, to be rewarded with lustrous, rich, lush sounds pouring out of my Maggies in the evening hours.

The contrast is worth gold. It's like abstaining from sex for a few days, to be in the end rewarded by the 'take me to the moon' lay.

There's merit in that, Alex. I don't like background music and detest its use in lifts (elevators) and shopping malls. So to get home to my system and play music after enforced abstinence is indeed a huge fix.

As I'm semi-retired, self-employed, and work from home, I can listen to music as often as I feel like it, which on average is about six hours a day. However, that can sometimes rise to as much as 10 hours, if I have an extended sesh into the early hours of the morning, particularly when using headphones.... :)

At weekends I actually tend to listen to music less, as I prefer to go out somewhere with Del (who's only off at weekends), or my mates, so most of my music listening is done during the week :cool:

Oh, and in my case, "listening" to music is almost without exception done on my main system, headphones aside, either through the Lockwoods or Celestions upstairs in my music room, or through the Dittons in the lounge - and I can listen to music as loud as I like, whenever I like! :ner: ;)

:D I narrowly missed out on an SPL meter yesterday on fleabay, bit of a shame really as it was spec'd from 31.5Hz to 8Khz where as most of them appear to function flat to 100Hz+. I really would like to know what kind of volume levels this lot can chuck out, but as i say it's me that can't take any more & turns down the volume :scratch: The funny thing is that the amps run just warm after a heavy session & the upper bass/lower mid driver (110Hz - 500Hz) is in no way breaking into a sweat, i'd have expected a lot more excursion :confused: As the bass driver is inside the enclosure i can't see what it's doing, but there are no audible signs of distress from those either...
