Hi all, Great site, sorry haven't visited the Welcome spot before, I've been offline for a few days.
I'm a senior citizen and have been interested in hi-fi for over fifty years. My first set-up included a Leak Point One valve amp and pre-amp, a reflectograph tape recorder and Garrard record deck. Over the years I progressed through several Quad valve and transistor amps with Garrard 301 disc player, SME 3009 arm with Shure cartridges and a Ferrograph tape deck. Speakers included Leak, Heathkit, Rogers LS35A and Quad ELS 63 electrostatics. In the CD age, now passing(?), I had Linn amps and CD player with Ninka speakers. My current system comprises an Arcam AVR600 AV receiver (incredible audio), Arcam rDock, Apple TV streamer, Classic iPod, still the Ninka speakers and a Sony 40" Bravia TV. All controlled by a Logitech Harmony One remote.
Had quite a few minor, but irritating, problems with the AVR600 which turned out to be due to the order in which the various units were switched on by the Harmony! Am amazed at the quality I'm getting from an iPod and so convenient. But also have access to all my records through the Apple TV and iTunes.
I have always loved music and I am also an amateur clarinettist. These days I listen mostly to classical chamber music though I still enjoy listening to and playing swing.
Look forward to browsing the site from time to time.
Best wishes to you all
John
