Hello. My name is Jon aaaand I’m currently working nights.

Came across this forum while trying to find out about some speakers I‘d somehow just won off ebay and a pair of monoblocks I was looking to buy, also off ebay (I think there’s a trend here…). This seems to be one of the most friendly and laid back forums I’ve ever visited, which makes for a nice change.

My system is being built from scratch as I moved to a house with room for a dedicated audio and video setup. Previously I lived in a ground floor flat so had a headphone based system to keep the noise down (unlike my idiot upstairs neighbour). Apart from my main speakers, everything is either ex-demo or second hand, but as people generally take care of their kit this is a great way to get value for money.

Musical tastes – almost* anything that’s recorded well and anything live that's played loud and fast.

My stereo system I seem to be building comprises Fostex FE206E horns (using Tony Gee's Solo-206 design), a pair of Rubyaudio Minim monoblocks with possibly a original Sony Playstation as source (for now).

Hello Jon I also work nights so you are not the only one...:)

Perhaps we can start a night owl section...?

Hi Jon. Interested to see you are building some Fostex based horns. I built the 208Sigma cabinet for the 206E. Fantastic speaker. I use a 5 Watt DIY Pass Labs F2 Class A, a great match.

Welcome Jon, I don't work nights but I do start early so hopefully there's some overlap. Can't say I've heard of the monoblocks, what technology are they?

Hi Jon,
A warm welcome from me too. I hope your stay here matches your first impressions - I'm sure that will be the case.
I've got to applaud your no-fear musical policy! Spot on, I'm sure there'll be plenty of recommendations from you in the music section.
Welcome to AoS!

Good idea, Dave! Why not send a friendship request to Jon, which I'm sure he'll accept, then you guys can chat in the wee small hours via the visitor message system (accessed through your profile) in real time, just like you'd do on an Internet chat room? :)

Btw, Jon, welcome to AoS!

Marco.

P.S TF, you might want to add 'Dave' to your profile, instead of 'Desperate', so that everyone knows your real name ;)

Hello Jon and welcome, a little more info or even pictures of your kit would be most welcome, the original Playstation certainly has a strong following

Another hello from me Jon, welcome to AoS. I don't officially work nights, but just finished a 15 hour day which is bad enough - don't know how you cope!

Nice introduction (flattery will get you everywhere - some cold hard cash will, however, get you further! ;))

Enjoy the forum.

Thanks guys (ooh look, it's quarter to 2am :( ).

Will post some more info and photos at some point when I get some time. Currently wading through a selection of paints (mostly greys) for the colour scheme for my AV room.

*An edit to my musical tastes in my first post: I can't get my head around that free form atonal jazz (ie, widdly widdly, squeak, honk). Practically anything else is fair game.
