Umm, that's a tad difficult to quantify in certain respects :eyebrows: However if i take it as about 95% of my cables were bought new even if some are DIY then i look to have about 40% new equipment ;)

There is a heck of a lot of it though as this is an AV setup

Only 'new' things in my set-up are my M2 amp and my iMac.

Just too much of a fan of s/h value...

In my main system, as a percentage of components then 60% new. Pretty much all my other clutter is 2nd hand experimentation and components I lusted after from the past. :)

100% pretty well. Not that I'm not a fan of used equipment, it's just that I've known exactly what I've wanted in recent years and they have not been available on the used market.

Hmmm, maths was never my best subject.....

CDP - S/H
Amp - S/H
Speakers - S/H
Speaker Cable - S/H
Headphone Amp - S/H
Headphones x 2 - New
Caiman - New
Interconnects - New
Music Server - New (Home Build)
Mains Cables - S/H (eBay)
What does that tot up to?

When I say S/H, virtually my entire system was a gift, when you consider it's worth and what I paid for it. My best mate parted with it and offered it to me when he moved to China.... god bless him

(funny though, as a lot of it is about to go and I felt so embarrassed I actually asked him at a recent gig if he would mind if I sold it. He thought I had gone mad and said "why ask me, it's yours, you paid for it" :mental:)

Just my cartridge, which is a about 25% of the value of my system.

From the main system, not much!

Turntable - new
Arm - used
Cartridge - new
SUT (when in use) - new
Phono stage (when in use) - used
CD player - used (just)
Tuners (x2) - used
Tape decks (x2) - used
Pre-amp - used
Power amps (stereo x2) - used
Speakers - used
Mains unit - used
Cables - new

So if you count the cables as an item, I guess that's 25%.

But.........

There are 4 other systems in the house & between them, only 1 pair of speakers, a DAC and some cables were purchased new.

Me:

Turntable/PSU - new. T/T has just recently been discontinued.

Tonearm - new.

Main cartridge (SPU) - used, but currently still in production. Other cartridges all are all vintage, used items, apart from a new-in-box DL-103.

CDP/DAC - used vintage items, now discontinued.

Tuner - used vintage item, now discontinued.

Tape decks x2 - used vintage items, now discontinued.

Preamp - used, but currently still in production (the oldest component in my system, which I've had now for nearly 7 years).

Power amp - used, but currently still in production.

Speakers (all three pairs) are used vintage items, now discontinued.

Cables - all new.

Stands - new/replicas, now discontinued.

Underwear - (heavily used and soiled)! Haha, score that one off!

As you can see, I'm a big fan of using quality vintage gear and combining it with some judiciously selected modern kit to give me (I think) the best of both worlds.... SPPV rules ok, ya bass - shun the cachet of owning 'desirable badges', brothers, and leave that pish to the mugs with more money than sense! ;)

Ittock - used
k18 - new
lingo - new
Kildeihs - used
Naim 62/90 - new
Naim hicap - used
cables - new

According to the above about 60% new.

Out of 18 main items in my setup, 12 are either second hand or ex-demo and the 6 from new, 5 I got at discounted rate (the other was dirt cheap).

Certainly couldn't afford full price for everything.

edit forgot. Two interconnects, two lots of speaker cables and one pair of speakers (Tannoy PMB 6.5) were won in competitions, which was nice.

Turntable - Used

Tonearm - Used.

Cartridge - NEW ( but a mistake ... should have investigated more )

OPPO 95 Universal disc spinner - NEW ( The exception !)

Bespoke Preamp - (2) 1 bought new, but not commercially available, privately made. The other is a vintage item.

Power amp - (3) used and vintage items ..

Receiver - (2) 1 bought new in 79' the other is vintage item bought used.

Speakers - (4 pairs) 1 bought new in 79' others are used or vintage items,

Cables - 75% NEW

For me buying new gear is same as buying a new car ,,,, DAFT :mental: ,, (unless someone else is paying for it or you are simply just rich ;) ) There is so much choice to be had on the 2nd hand and vintage market for a fraction of the price of new gear .. and with very few exceptions the new gear is not worth the price they ask now (To me at any rate) . My one exception is the Oppo BD 95 which I am about to buy new ,,, It is an exceptional piece of kit that does not have a used equivalent.
I might add that is simply my view ... I respect the fact others may disagree ... and I still love to drool over new gear .. but now I know the markups on most stuff I just shudder .. :eyebrows:

I run speakers that I made myself.
My amp is now my very own Apollon Audio Apache EL34 jobby
My black mamba speaker cables were new.
Apart from that I have not had any new kit for at least 15 years.
That's probably no real surprise to anybody:lol:

For me it's 17%.

This is based on a total of 52 components, only 9 of which were bought new.
