I never cease to be amazed at the mercury rectifiers in this philips amp. The output valves are quite impressive too.

With 5 cats and the voltages it uses it's probably not wise to have in the house.

Would be fun though. :)

Yes, those mercury vapour rectumfryers are great are they not?

Here's a pic of the OB2 voltage stabiliser valves in my valve buffer stage designed and built by Nick Gorham. Not quite as cool, but I like 'em!

Similar thought Andr'e. The lair of Ming the merciless came to mind when I first found the clip.

Seems there's more than one guy in Holland with one of these, or should I say two. :stalks:

These seem to be a later iteration as the rear bank of mercury rectifiers are replaced with solid state.

I'm not sure that the cred that goes with owning amps like these will allow me to forgive the appalling taste in music though. :eek:

380V is the 3-phase supply voltage, there's approaching 3kV on the anodes of the output valves.

Jeepers thats a lot, it makes 845's look tame, i got a belt off a cap the other day when i was fiddling with my valve phono stage and that had been switched off for a while, that made me jump and retuned my heart for another 40 years
