Latest Tweak to Speakers

My Silver Iris (Hawthornes) use a compression Tweater, that has a sealed back Well with the gentle hand twisting of a friend I finally got the back plate and cover removed. Result more open soundstage, even faster attack and decay and more air. In other words a no brainer that does not cost any money:cool:

So, why was the back plate put there in the first place?

Coz it wasn't meant to be a dipole?

Thinking about Dave comments the domes are quite fragile little things so that might be one reason. Going totally dipole in the treble has risks with a compression driver but in my case it worked adds more air etc
