Interest check / Advice Rolling Stones Acetate

[BTH K10A]

I've had this 10" 2 sided Rolling Stones Acetate for quite a while now. I'm not really a big fan of the stones so I'm thinking of selling it.

It has the following tracks:

Miss Amanda Jones
Who's been sleepin here
All sold out

Mt obsession
Complicated
Yesterdays papers

The tracks are obviously from between the Buttons and as the sides are marked 3 & 4, I assume there was a sister disc containing the rest of the tracks.

The brown paper sleeve has various messages on it such as"

"Farlowe" in large letters
"Andrew will give Arthur dub of B side (like mead wines) Sunday when he sees him"
"Arthur dont forget to ring Farlowe NOR 2159

Label has Farlowe on it as well.

I have always assumed this to be Chris Farlowe and Anfrew Loog Oldham. Don't know who Arthur is though.

I got this with a few Immediate label acetates by Billy nicholls so I think the Loog Oldhanm connection is correct.

The acetate is in extremely good gondition with only 4 tics on the runout at the end of one side.

I am unsure what sort of value to put on this and was wondering if a specialist auction might be the way to go.

Those tracks were recorded in a session on 20th January 1967

Chris Farlowe recorded for Immediate, which was a label that was owned by Loog Oldham. Mick Jagger & Keith Richards wrote some songs for Chris Farlowe, that they later did themselves - eg 'Out of Time'

He recorded 'Yesterday's Papers' on 5th May 1967.

I suspect this disc is of great interest to the right folks.

Yes - put it up for auction on eBay. With the right wording/description, you'll make a bomb!

I think this more old style auction material rather than ebay as this could be risky or require a unknown reserve. Suspect Bonhams or Christies could advise among others.

Not saying yours is of the same value, it could be worth less or more but the following may be of interest. Do you know if the tracks on yours are the same or different from the released album or single versions, if they are that will certainly add to the value. I suspect your other acetates could be of interest to collectors.

I'd definitely say the tracks are different to those released on the album. I jusy payed and timed "Yesterday's papers" and its 2 mins 25 secs including the countdown intro. From data on the web the version on the album is 2mins 4 secs. Sounds different to youtube clips too.

This could potentially be very collectable as it may have never been heard outside of the studio in these versions. Have you got yourself back-up digital copies as I wouldn't risk playing it too often. Stones themselves might even be interested for their own archives although I assume Master Tapes from this period do still exist.

I've only ever played it once right through plus three of the tracks once more at other times.

I've not got a digital copy. I'll have to see about connecting one of my EMT's to my imac.
