Hello everybody, my name is Marc Bastings, 38 yr old, living in Maastricht, netherlands. I am a sound and light tech by profession, and an audio fanatic by religion.

My home system is a Power conditioner >> Dreambox sat reciever (also plays FLAC) >> optical >> Beresford TC7520 >> Leak Stereo 60 >> Aura Pied Piper speakers :)

I started to get interested in improving audio devices a few years ago, and am now (slowly) building tube guitar amps and doing all the tech work for my company, trying to improve almost every device that passes through.

Hello John,

I like dance, hard rock, lounge, some classic, light jazz. if anybody takes himself serious I'll take him serious too!

At the moment I listen a lot to JJ cale, Califone, Al Green and Pearl Jam, about the only band I would considder myself a fan of.

My TC7520 sounds REALLY good now, after a week of power supply mods...

Hello Martin,

My stereo 60 has been very well restored and modded, no comparisson to the original. Let's just say that i still prefer it's sound over the manley snappers of a friend.
It sounds detailed without ever being harsh or offensive, always laid back without missing anything. It's just loud enough for the living room...

It looks very nice, Marc, and your description fits with the sound my Stereo 20 makes. Unfortunately the 20 doesn't have enough power but the sound it makes is superb.

Very nice amp you have there, cherish it!

Stereo 20 is a bit more hi-fi, but as you say seriously lacks power. It took me a long time to find the tubes I like the most, input is a Tele ECC801S, edicron ECC803S as drivers, and KT66 gold lion power tubes. Normally I prefer Tele smooth plates, but in this amp they were all over the place. First time in my life I expierenced TOO MUCH sound, didn't think that was possible!

The KT66 has more body compared to the Tele EL34's I use as a demo set.
Oh, and much heavier rectifier and double Mallory capacitance, this also makes a big difference. If I have to describe it I would have to say that it lets the amp breathe more easily, like deeper bass and a more 'relaxed' sound.

And don't worry, I know what I have here. It's one of te rarest. It even has the stock circuit, probably the only amp I own that's still close to original...
