1. How often do you wash your records? When new? (I do). When purchased from any source? (I do). Then when? What triggers you to decide that a disc needs a wash? How often on average is this?

2. Anybody have a source for clear polythene slips to go over the record sleeve?

You could try here (http://www.covers33.co.uk/) for covers.I've used them a few times in the past and been very happy with delivery times and price.

There's a link on there to a Japanese Ebay seller's shop - theirs are the best value inners I've bought. Good quality too.

Well I send my shirts out to be washed and ironed so why not my vinyl for similar treatment. I sold my very first Moth RCM today so may get one for myself if funds allow! Hard to decide if I should continue sending the vinyl to the existing supplier or do it myself, difficult decision to make!

I'm sure that your "existing supplier", the oik that he is, would be only too happy to facilitate the record cleaning requirements of a gentleman of your stature, and so why dirty your perfectly manicured digits when you can have the job done by such humble peasants? :eyebrows:

Probably Baz, but l buy 95% secondhand vinyl- and believe me some of it is filthy, l am convinced cleaning records in this manner( and the purchase of an Anchromat oddly enough) helped with a massive reduction of clicks, pops and static, so my discs are the quietest l have had in my room, and previously l have had some high end vinyl components.:)

To answer the rest of your question, I always clean any records I buy, whatever state they're in. I'm still working my way through the backlog of my collection though, even after many years of owning a machine. I don't think I've ever cleaned any of my discs more than twice so far.
I've never had static problems.

After a bit of research, I found that the knees are always the best location for drying.

'It was discovering an enourmous scratch on side one his cherished copy of 'The Sugababes Greatest Hits' that finally made Gerald flip. After first killing his wife stone dead by bombarding her with the contents of a Hendrix boxed set he was then able to turn his attention back to the damaged disc. Could it be salvaged?'
