Anyone know alternative to Mana Speaker Base/Stand ?

Im looking for some speaker stands for large floorstanders that dont have their spikes. Mana used to do their own speaker table called the sound stage i think, but what about alternatives. Any suggestions??

Have you lost the spikes? You can buy new, high-quality ones on eBay very cheaply.

Mana Sound Stages come up for sale often enough, there are some for sale just now if you wanted them. They typically sell for between £60 and £100 each.

Soundcity do some great outriggers you could use in combination with a slab of Granite.

if your on a budget or fancy building your own ....then a small inner tube from a 12" bike wheel used to support the weight of the speaker can be good ...

a lot depends on the floor type ...

also an mdf sandwich with auralex foam between.. sat on small supports or a concrete slab ...


in my case just auralex mopads works extremely well correcting 90% of my room woes for a very modest cost.

spikes are not the panacea of all ills !...my system improved greatly when I removed the spiked feet from my floor standing electrostatics.

Thanks for all the input. Im thinking of a pair of Celestion Ditton 66 speakers which i'm reliably informed do not have any inserts for spikes, just having a flat bottom panel.

I have always thought that every speaker MUST have some kind of spiked stand which goes through the carpet into the floorboards and so have been racking (no pun intended) my brain trying to think of a spiked platform that i can put the speakers on, such as the Mana sound base/stage (not sure).

I am now hearing from various people that perhaps spikes are not necessary as long as I have a level dense and acoustically dead slab of something on which to stand the speakers maybe just with a blobs of bluetac stopping them sliding off. Surely all i've read in the past about must have spikes cant be a lie, can it.

Not necessarily. There was a time when nothing had spikes and people seemed to survive! Even today there are manufacturers who don't use them, like Shahinian for instance. I've heard Shahinian speakers and they sound pretty nice.
