I have the above items that came my way but I wish to sell, can anyone suggest whether it is ok to have an open bidding on here, bidding by PM etc or is it better to go on ebay?
I'm really not sure of their value so know not what to ask...!
I have given them a basic test and they appear to work fine (one slider is a bit stiff, probably not been moved in years....!).
I am in North Herts. UK
Many thanks,
John

Hi John,
It's kind of expected that you should have a few posts under your belt before you get into buying and/or selling on the Art of Sound. We're a friendly bunch of freaks & weirdos though, so if you could find your way over to the Welcome section, you can meet us all properly by posting a new thread. You could tell us all a bit about yourself, what sort of hi-fi you have and the sort of music that you like.

Cheers

They are the brown models, the transition model for their change over from valves, '61-'67 I believe, I have lots of papers for them too, circuit diags and original notes plus clipping notes etc....
As for price...as I said, I'm not sure as yet, looking for inspiration Lol

I am suitably ashamed and apologetic and immediately tried to correct this with a post as pointed out...

You could also try doing a historic eBay search, to see what they generally go for?

I did see that, but as it says, not working condition, I suspect someone not very knowledgeable, not sure how to do a historic search and google not much help.
I have been advised, that £4-600 as a "pair" of working models is not unreasonable... but not 100% sure of the quality of advice, however, he has seen them and does attend, and have stalls at HI-FI fairs.

Just figured out historic ads, but only has valve options of £1,200-1500 area..

Go to eBay and instead of clicking in the normal search box, select Advanced.

A new page comes up, enter your search term but tick the 'Completed Listings' box. You then get a history of items sold matching your search keywords.

This will take you straight there http://shop.ebay.co.uk/ebayadvsearch/?rt=nc

The Radford valve models have now gone way beyond the price band in which they were once selling in. As you've seen, you could expect them to reach well over £1k. To give you an idea of how things have moved, I paid £250 for my STA15 back in the early 90's. Just one article in a magazine about a 'lost treasure' is a surefire guarantee, that all the lost ones will be found pretty sharpish & the price will rocket.
Unfortunately for you, I think, this situation doesn't appear to have happened with the later transistor models.

Youy are of course correct, I am fortunate to have some of the best of the none valve ones by all accounts, and acquired from someone who owned from new, hence I have the "manuals and wiring diagrams".
plus in original condition, eg non tampered.
I'm thinking £2-300 each tops and preferably not split, I hate to break sets!

look at the flickr links above.....I know I'm colour blind but....!
to be honest, I'd say cream front, dark brown/black edging/detail and beige shells.
Or am I mistaken???

I have no experience of these, but I think "gut instinct" is that £4-600 is optimistic. I think the only barometer of what they are worth is what someone will pay - a collector (or 2, or 3 bidding against each other, if you're lucky) will probably be your best bet - the 'bay beckons, I would suggest.

You are right, to an extent, these have an unwarranted reputation among the real officianados, the clarity is unsurpassed and the quality and hand build is unique.
they outclassed the quads etc by a huge margin.
I do not by any stretch believe they will be the same as the valve units, but, I've heard them, they are impressive, but to get the full appreciation, you'd need to use the data on the paperwork I have to set them up to their optimum.

I am more than happy to share the sheets I have scanned if anyone is interested

I think 6 is optimistic, as I said, not my valuation.....
there is a Radford Yahoo forum:-

I think Andre's referring to the idea of £300 a piece.

yes, I thought that was optimistic, to say the least, but was uninitiated in value tbh so not willing to rule it out
