Hello from the Midlands

Wow, nice forum, been watching a little while now, very interesting topics, and being nosey, what lovley system pics. Thought I would like to take part.

A little bit about myself and my story into hifi:
Got into music much later than most, inevitably ended up down the Naim route, until one day a friend came in and asked me where I had been the previous day, proudly, I had been buying another Naim box, I said,
He said, he did not know that I was into music, he said he was into music,
we must get together. What system have you got he asked, ah well, you probably have never heard of it, NAIM, I say, he said Naim, nice stuff but not his cup of tea, oh dear, I said but nothing does piano like Naim, hang on, what system have you got then? Valves and horns! Valves and horns? I say, whats that then. The rest is history, in two years I have gone from an all digital Naim system, to 3000 Vinyl records and some cd's 1000 (that I never play). I will very shortly post some pictures of current system and last system.
I like all music, just recently been concentrating on getting a good classical collection together.
Hope I have not bored you to much, but I think it can be interesting to see how we get to where we are.

sorry this sounds quite weirdly like me and robin have been talking about you if you are the same person .... ....
.... .... to fill you in, i popped in there one day and robin was telling me that him and the other chap (whos name now escapes me) were to pop round to a customers house to listen to their huge valve/horn system... im sure he said it was in a wood building too ...
then just last week i happened to mention i had the adam tensor epsilons
robin said, "we had a customer who dem'd the alphas ... but didnt like them ... he went for some big horns in the end"
if this is all you, then it really is a very small world, and quite an big and very odd coincidence!

It is indeed a small world, isn't it. Mind you, as there are only probably about a hundred hifi enthusiasts left in the country not quite such a surprise! ;)

... so you didnt like the adams eh ... well ... i dunno what to say ;)
id be interested to know your view on my system to be fair, adams fronted with a valve pre to my ear is spot on ...
How odd though - for you to have come up in convo more then once in a shop .... perhaps robin is envious of your system since he obviously cant get it out of his mind ;)

I thought the Adams were great, I have to say that the trios are something else though. In my opinion, I really think that all these systems have great positive points, however, there are very few that give an all round piece of furniture look, and sound amazing.

Ironically, Robin and the current manager came to listen to the system, the manager, whose name I have forgotten thought it was great, Robin, did not express an opinion!!

i cant think of his name at all ... its silly ... robin is a nice chap ... perhaps a little on the "objectivist" side of the hifi world ... i often find my self feeling like he knows something i don't ... if that makes sense?

the big adams are amazing speakers ... but they would look terribly industrial in such a nice warm looking room as yours!
what do the horns offer differently from the adams, just out of interest?

i think if you have the space for such things the world is your oyster ... i could never fit somthing you have into my room as it is a semi detached Victorian place ... they wouldnt be furniture ... they would take up most of the room!

I would love to show you what it does, you would be most welcome,
The system hangs instruments in the air, not sound from the speakers, they almost become invisable, they have a front, middle and rear sound stage
Room acoustics are incredibly clear
most of all you can hear a piano hammer hit a string, or a bow scrape across a string, it feels like a performance.

Uber busy with work and 2 week old puppies and pregnant fiancee and various other life related stuff and nonsense at the moment ... but as soon as i have some more time on my hands i will get in touch!

the coincidence relly is odd!...
it was literally just the other day robin mentioned you ... for the second time ...
i suppose there are only so many "audiophiles" in the world... and even less in worcester .... and even less still with giant horns in a bespoke room in worcester

I can tell you that there is another pair in worcester aswell, although he has a verdier platine tt and a huge music room. The culprit behind me getting mine!!!

Nahh not well met him once when I tried out the Raven AC a few years back

The Raven AC is pretty good one if not the best belt drive I heard; not sure about his phono stage or the speakers not sure what was adding the colouration I heard

I first heard the kit at a friends home, I thought it was amazing, went to Grahams, and just not sure if the room confines etc were the issue, albeit room treated, it did not sound the same. I bought Nanos off him first, I did'nt even try them at his, I believed in the sound that I thought they would produce. They did not dissapoint, I then invested in the trios to get more of the same, I must say though I know what you mean. I do honestly believe that you get a product that is quite extraodinary from a chap who knows his stuff i.m.o.
