View Full Version : Bryston B100 SST?
Bryston B100 SST
I am seriously considering one of these as a replacement for all my Musical Fidelity hardware and going over totally to file based audio. As a source I will be using a computer and Caiman DAC.
Has anyone on the forum got a B100, tested one or have any comments to make (positive or negative), or suggestions for an alternative if they think I can find a better similarly priced integrated amp?
Many thanks
Tim

You mean one with a 20 year guarantee? I think not :eyebrows: In all honesty you really can't argue with that now can you. You apparently mentioned wanting to camp in the shop you listened to them at ;)
Other than the fact that the circuit is a very interesting one, well Bryston power amps in general use an unusual configuration that i have never seen elsewhere i'm afraid i can only add that they appear to be popular & sought after :)

It's a good amp but far too expensive in GB now. When we used to sell it (not long ago) it was sub £1K and I dread to think how much it is now. There is a lot of competition.
I’ve heard a fair bit of the basic Bryston B100 (no Dac)
I love it, I have to say but you need to partner it very carefully with the speakers.
It’s knife sharp, stone cold and ruthless to my ears and if there is any tendency for your kit to sound bright you may have problems.
A tube buffer can help apparently but I didn’t hear it with a buffer in place.
A leaf out of Marco’s book here, avoid modern speakers heavy on forward presentation and high impact presentation.

LOL, indeed I did, I was very impressed by everything about them, the build quality is like a tank.... but the sound hit all my sweet spots, I kept saying to the salesman... "just one more track, this will be the last track......" I think I finished about 10 later and they were waiting to close! Mind you, a home demo will be needed first, as they are very expensive.
