seeing as you asked :eyebrows:

1. stunning Veneer! Very nice, but i'd prefer a rounded edge rather than two 45 degree edges

2. Looks like a quality veneer, how is the box constructed? At the end of the day it's not about how pretty it looks ;)

3. What drivers are you thinking of using & what enclosure volumes? It doesn't apply to tweeters or most midrange units as they tend to have sealed backs...

4. Are they ported & if so what is the tuning frequency & internal volume, drivers etc? Port diameter & length might be handy to, any flares at either end can add to the mix :eyebrows:

To model what you have made would need the bass or bass/mid driver parameters, accurate as well ;)

Is that Burl Maple veneer ?
That looks nice.
The box is ok. It's a box. Looks to be solidly constructed. It doesn't offend the eye. It's a stand mount so panel resonances are not likely to be an issue. What more can you say ?

What driver configuration are you going to load it with ?

As a cabinet maker i can see where the veneering has gone a bit wrong, it's also not a good idea having that bevel on the front imho, apart front looking a bit odd it's also causing you more work & making you veneer matching harder hence bumping the cost..

Bigger pics would be a good idea.Excuse my views they are not meant to be a let down just my honest take..

Heres a Thorens surround i did for someone a few years ago in Chestnut, can you see how the grain on the front follows over the top to give the effect of a real solid piece of wood..

I totally agree with you, but the magnolia burr is 20 or 30 times more expensive and difficult to find large piece, it is hell a lot of work to fill
knot holes as well. That's why ATC charging almost double for their Anniversary version of speakers.:lol:

By the way, do you built speaker cabs?

The vaneer is very striking, but not my cup of tea to be honnest, ash or rosewood would look nicer imho and like andre said those angles are just gonna bump the price up and make it a much tougher job to vaneer too. They look solid though.

Hi Guys! We are selling these beautiful boxes now! We decided not to turn it into end product, because it is too expensive to build with these boxes (costed us more than a grand for this prototype).

You can have this with a complete set of Wavecor drivers, the drivers itself are worth 450 usd. (Similar to top of the range audio physic stuff)

Now you can have them for 500 pounds, we need some space. Can give you a basic crossover design to play with.

I believe that my response is a-typical rather than typical. The majority of my customer base is male and over 50 years of age. This particular type of finish does not appeal to them. They prefer Rosewood or Maple, Cherry or Beech. Not black ash. When I stocked Harbeth, I had every finish on demo. Tiger Ebony, although beautifully applied and finished was only eventually moved on when I sold them at trade + vat.

Cherry, Rosewood or Piano Black are the only finishes I would consider.

I like light colored knotty wood. Mine are piano black but since found out they are made in sweat shops and the process is dangerous to workers health.

I love the look of that vaneer but it just doesn't look right on those speakers. It would look great on a table top but the speakers are too much of a complicated shape for the grain pattern. It was a nice idea though. :)

This is not black ash, this is magnolia burr, the veneer costed a fortune and require highly skilled craftsman to work on them.:lolsign: Black ash is 50 times cheaper than this.:) I agreed with you, that's why we stop working on it, too expense and too difficult to get it right.

I think that the look has been well executed. Howeverm personally I'd prefer something plainer, simpler and more classic, and less 'hey, look at me!', if you see what I mean? :)

I always find that 'fancy' wood finishes age much more than 'timeless classics', such as oak (light, medium and dark), rosewood, walnut, elm, piano black, etc.

If it's a simple plain box with simple yet nice veneers, as Marco points out they wont age.

Thats an unusual veneer, most speakers go with gloss black which shows every mark or the usual rosewood veneer which is a bit overdone now, good to see something a little different looking.
