Nothing special, bought an old Marantz 1040 amp I only use this amp in the bedroom etc.

I plug my AKG K240 MKII headphones into the old Marantz 1040 amp when listening to CDs. The sound is decent and musical. Plus, I use a Marantz 2060 ML tuner for late night Radio...man I love LBC 97.3:)

Soon, I want to get some little bookshelf speakers to use with the 1040. Any particular speakers that work well with the 1040? A gentleman told me to use speakers that are between 8-16 ohm with the 1040. Maybe LS3/5as?? Maybe good for LBC:lol: Becuase on LBC its nothing but vocals.

Kind Regards,

Shane.

Have you seen what LS3/5A's currently go for?

Yes:(

Maybe an Ex dem/2nd hand Sterling LS3/5a might be reasonable (ish)

Spendors maybe. Or esl57's if you have the room.

Little Spendors- maybe.

Quad ESL 57- Never. Far too big for my bedroom :)

Kef Reference 101 might suit, very similar to the LS3/5A as it uses the same drivers ;)

I've seen them before.

How much do the Kefs 101 go for?

£2-400 by the looks of it on the 'bay. (http://completed.shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?rt=nc&LH_Complete=1&_nkw=kef%20101&_dmpt=UK_Consumer_VintageAudio_RL&_fln=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m283&_rdc=1)

(Link will probably only work if you are signed in to ebay.)
