Lol - it's bloody sacrilege!!

John, nope, no DAC this time, as we're using a modded Eikos CDP with its own built-in DAC, so if you wanna do any compy-chooter stuff, bring yer DAC and whatever other gubbins ya need :)

Not sure. It's not mine, so I'll find out. And you defo mean coaxial input, rather than output?

Marco.

John
01-03-2011, 16:49
yes input it needs to read from the laptop via the converter most CD players usually do but not all

Both names are mine, all mine!

My father did not have two forenames, just the one, reckoned that they were so poor, could only afford one.

Hi John,

Soz, apparently the Eikos is too old for that kind of stuff, however, we have access to an M2Tech Young DAC, if that's any good? :)

Marco.

John
01-03-2011, 17:29
It should be but might have driver issues as I use widows 7
It might be best for me to bring my DAC on the train
My Nu-vista had a digital in and that is even older than the Ekos

John
01-03-2011, 17:38
It says you have to upload driver on the manual I could do this before the show in case no internet issues it also has a coaxial in so might not need driver as the usb to spdif converter will take care of that so worth a try as we have two options to get sounds striaght vis usb or with the converter

Marco
01-03-2011, 17:43
Sounds good, John - always good to have another source, and up-to-date technology, too! Please therefore do the necessary :)

Great choice of music, particularly alternative artists, but poor interface and no official iPhone app. Sacrilege I know, put if you're going to pay £10 a month to get rid of adverts you want to be able to listen to stuff on the bus as well... :)

That's great - thanks Keith - duly added.

By the way, if people add any tracks or make changes to their playlists, this should automatically get updated in the AoS Spotify pages.

There's a list there called 31 Songs, which I put together for Alex's SpotiFace launch party. It's the tracks discussed in Nick Hornby's book of the same name:

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41DZ471D4EL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

......the only trouble is, that the list is a bit short as Spotify doesn't have all of them. I've found a couple of cover versions, but at the moment it's only 27 Songs! I'll try to find something suitable in a while to (sort of) fill the gaps.

Read the book & listen to the songs.

Thanks Chris - I shall get hold of the book as well, sounds interesting.

From the Amazon website:

'I decided that I wanted to write a little book of essays about songs I loved ... Songs are what I listen to, almost to the exclusion of everything else.'

In his first non-fiction work since Fever Pitch, Nick Hornby writes about 31 songs that either have some great significance in his life - or are just songs that he loves. He discusses, among other things, guitar solos and losing your virginity to a Rod Stewart song and singers whose teeth whistle and the sort of music you hear in Body Shop.

'The soundtrack to his life ... a revealing insight into one of Britain's most popular writers' Evening Standard

I've not added to the AoS Playlists, but in case anyone is interested, Spotify themselves have done the 2011 Mercury Music Prize Nominated Albums (http://open.spotify.com/user/spotify/playlist/48QFLaLCKQTLIceKYuyHM7) - in case you fancy checking out this year's contenders. (Adele - 21 is missing, though, as not yet on Spotify although a couple of tracks from a single are included...)
