Brian, I think I'd take the advice of going back to the older headshell to see if things work out. Your issues with sibilance may not be a bad thing for the rest of us as it shows that the m55e might not like too much additional mass in the head shell. If the sibilance goes then it looks like extra mass is the problem.

I also have an AT95e Ralph and I'm getting sibilance with that too .

What cables are you using from the deck to the amp Brian?
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

The M55e and At95 are not particularly prone to sibilance even when set up badly! Severe VTA may cause sibilance but if your tonearm is generally level then this should not be an issue.

So I think it must be something to do with capacitance between arm/ cartridge and headshell or phono cable from TT to amp. Have you tried other cables yet Brian? Can you try different phono stage ?

Try a pure copper conductor lead mate. No plating.

Can't hurt to give it a try Brian. I have heard a bright character imparted to the sound of cartridges when using interconnects with pure silver or silver plated conductors. That could be causing the sibilance or stridence you are hearing.
