Matthau made some fine movies. I think Charley Varrick is probably my favourite.

Not seen 'Manhunter'. But only rate 'Silence...' as an above average thriller.

Reminded me of another: 'L.A Takedown' or 'Heat'? Think I prefer the remake there as well.

Joe Don Baker was also great in this, as the ruthless, sociopathic hitman. The end in the scrapyard was brilliant!!

Manhunter is grittier than Silence of The Lambs and there's no overacting in it.

    Just saw Hacksaw Ridge...
Directed by Mel Gibson, based on a true story.

    Holy Hell...that was strong.
Best War film (aside Path's of Glory) since Malik's Thin Red Line...and a million times more visceral.
    (I've seen Ryan)

    Gibson is Hollywood Royalty...seriously.

You are a fan of Thin Red Line? I suppose there had to be one somewhere. It's okay, don't get me wrong, but it's no 'A Bridge Too Far' which, let's face it, has always been the one to beat.

I have a soft spot for Mel, he's done some good films for a drunken anti-Semite with absolutely no knowledge of history apart from what he's read on the back of cereal boxes. He's a nut. Southpark are not far of the ball with him IMO
