    These are your Bournville options:

Notice the tabs at the ends? A good way to make it look bigger than it is. The acreage is largely unchanged, but have got about 40% thinner. Even Mrs. P commented on this when I kindly gave her a third of my Fruit and Nut: "If they get any thinner you'll be able to see through them"

Right, one more thing about the "Old Jamaica", then I'll stop.

Cadbury's re-launched the Old Jamaica in January 2020, and is supposedly back for good. They claim the recipe is identical to the original, but get this: They also claim (good news for weight watchers like me) that now it contains 61 calories per 3 squares, compared to the original's 78 calories. They must think we're stupid.

Exactly. See, we're not stupid. And if the market researchers had bothered to travel further north they would have realised this. But no, they only ever canvass opinions from That London, where they are all brought up on pyramids of Ferrero Rocher.

Has anyone noticed that whilst the overall external diameter of loo rolls seems not to have changed, the diameter of the inner cardboard tube has increased, hence less sheets per roll.

(I hate 'rum and raisin' chocolate bars, as I do 'fruit and nut' - but I love chocolate bars which contain hazelnuts.)

Well I've learned something there - Fruit and Nut uses almonds, while Cadburys Whole Nut contains hazelnuts. I should tell Anita, she helped me eat mine on Sunday, and she hates almonds.

I'm not aware of the bog roll thing - I think the standard used to be 240 sheets per roll, but these days most folk want the quilted stuff, which is about 50% fresh air, therefore less paper - another con.

Your findings and my theory together might go some way to explaining why my toilet rolls don't last as long - I used to work on the assumption that as i average 3 sheets per wipe, 4 wipes per visit, that a standard roll would last me 20 days (+ 3 days as I give the toilet Sundays off).

But there is a variable: there are three and a half people in this house, and I suspect Anita's kids still put down 'rafts', as they have a phobia about splashback.

As your finding seems properly researched while my contribution is only a theory, I think you should be lead author on any paper that may be published from this.
