After 18 months of back problems (slipped disc) I decided at the start of the year I had to try and loose a few lbs and take up more exercise (not difficult as I was doing very little mainly in fear of doing more damage to my back) So since the start of the year ive lost almost a stone and I am now working out in the gym a couple of times a week along with some swimming as well.
I started with a plan of doing mainly exercises to strengthen my lower back such as dead lifts, leg presses, seated rows etc but over the weeks as I've felt more comfortable and stronger this has moved on to squats, dead squats, clean & press, shoulder press, bench press and other free weight routines. That combined with 20 mins of cardio and regular swimming means I'm feeling so much happier in myself and about myself.
The diet side of things has been harder but I'm now trying to eat sensible meals and cutting out late night snacks and (most of) my chocolate intake.
The exercise side of things has now got to the point where I enjoy and look forward to it as I can feel myself getting stronger and fitter. I really cant stress how important it is to be active and fit.
