    Very nice indeed.
3 ways with downward firing woofer in a separated plinth affair.
Sweet as a nut but can boogie, too.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Whoops! - yes, I forgot the T for Tower!
    Chario Syntar 100T

Here's a stock pic of the base of a similar Chario model showing the bass driver and port configuration on the base of the speaker.

I'd be quite curious to put it up against Justin's fancy LampiDAC.
Huh? Are you on about the Benchmark? I didn't know you had one. Nay cheap new.

You are most welcome to bring it round but we'll use the 211s so I can't blow your ears out with half a kilowatt LOL.

The Lampi changes so much with the triodes it has in at the time it is hard to make a solid conclusion as to what it really sounds like. So comparing is somewhat pointless. Love to hear the Benchmark though.

    No, not a Benchmark.
A French battery powered design NOS TDA1543 DAC.
    It's a bit special.

I had an early Benchmark and was overwhelmed with its mere OK-ness.
They might have come along a bit in the last 15 years, though.

Grilles are off - to remove a slight plummy colouration.
Speakers tilted slightly back - to aim tweeters at ear level.

    Sounding very nice indeed!

... and some carpet loveliness especially for Marco.

ou might slip, you might slide, you might
Stumble and fall by the road side
But don't you ever let nobody drag your spirit down
Remember you're walking up to heaven

Don't let nobody turn you around
… Walk with the rich, walk with the poor
Learn from everyone, that's what life is for
And don't you let nobody drag your spirit down
